Fave song that isn't a Prince song... since year 2000?

Mine right here...

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

That's a lot of thinking to do. Here are some that come to mind:

"Do Your Thing" by *NSYNC (2001)

"Rock the Boat" by Aaliyah (2001)

"Drops of Jupiter" by Train (2001)

"Beautiful" by Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell Williams (2002)

"Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw (2004)

"When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley feat. Dolly Parton (2005)

"If Today Was Your Last Day" by Nickelback (2008)

"You Are" by Charlie Wilson (2010)

"Happy" by Pharrell Williams (2014)

"Earned It" by The Weeknd

"Let It Burn" by Jazmine Sullivan (2015)

"Shame" by Tyrese (2015)

"This Is What You Came For" by Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna (2016)

That's real hard . . . I'm torn between "All Caps" by Madvillain (2004) and "Breathing Underwater" by Hiatus Kaiyote (2015). "Breathing" edges out "Caps" by a nose right now, because it's IMO one of the best songs in the last few decades, even including Prince.

Among too many others, my honorable mentions would include:

"Askim" -- Kamasi Washington (2015)

"L.O.V.E. and You & I" -- Jazzanova (2002)
"Lovely, Lovely" -- Me'Shell Ndegeocello (2007)
"All For Love" -- Bilal (ca. 2002)
"Lonesome Tears" -- Beck (2002)
"1000 Deaths" -- D'Angelo (2014)
"Mr. Mister" -- J*Davey (2008)
"Ghetto Love" -- Spinerette (2008)
"Movin' Down The Line" -- Raphael Saadiq (2011)

"Shadows On Behalf" -- The Stepkids (2010)

"Being A Girl" -- Van Hunt (2006)
"Sweet Talk" -- Jessie Ware (2013)

D'Angelo - Another Life..

It really could have been any song from Black Messiah but Another Life just about edges it as my favourite non Prince song since 2000.

Having said that, my opinion may change in a day/week/hour/before I finish typing this sentence. It's tough to pick a favourite song.

A lot of 'em, including one that namepeace mentioned, "Breathing Underwater" by Hiatus Kaiyote...

...

Lately, I keep coming back to this piece, by Philip Owusu, called "Goodnight"--love his multitracked vocal harmonies....

....still waiting for that album to drop, though...

...

Written, Arranged and Produced by Philip Owusu

"Shape of My Heart" by the Backstreet Boys
"Oh Girl"
by Raphael Saadiq
"Forever" by Lil' Mo
"Do I Wanna Know?" by The Artic Monkeys
"At the End of a Slow Dance" by Van Hunt
"Soul Sista" by Bilal
"Ride a Black Swan" by Zwan
"You Know That I Love You" by Donell Jones

Prince didn't put out anything I would consider a "favorite" after 2000.

I would call (maybe) a handful of P songs since 2000 "favorites" of mine, but about half of them from Art Official Age.

"June" (2015)
"Muse 2 The Pharaoh" (2001)
"Time" (2014)

"Clouds" (2014)
"U Know" (2014)

"Black Sweat" (2006)

They don't Want Music is a dope track, no idea why it wasn't a single, i mean you got James Brown in a song and you don't make it a single?. Hump The Bumps is another great track, i loved it since it was released back in the day.

He was supposed to have an album called "SUBS" (short for suburbs) coming out, but it's been almost four years now, so ...I dunno...

...he did collaborate on an album years back, with Robin Hannibal (of Quadron), called, "Living with Owusu and Hannibal".....

Four years and no release? It's a long time. Good thing I know his music only now, I imagine it's frustrating to wait so long for a album that was expected to come soon. Well, thanks, I'll check this album with Hannibal. Quadron's Avalanche is one of my favorites of the decade! ps: send you a PM
