Question for org parents: What was the first music your child(ren) ever heard?

My kid's birthday just passed, and the occasion always takes me back in my mind to the moment of her arrival. She came into the world first hearing Dead Can Dance's Into the Labyrinth.

Besides wanting her first music to be sonically expansive, a mix of classic and modern instrumentation, and coloured by a transcultural sensibility, I dug the album's themes of venturing into an unknown time/place of transformation. It seemed fitting of birth. Can't say it had any effect on anything, but it made for great ceremony. smile

What was the first music your kid ever heard? Did you plan it intentionally? If so, what thought went into your choice?

I used to put all three of my babies to sleep to "Princess Leia's Theme" from the original Star Wars soundtrack. It's always been my favorite, and it worked. nod

Make it so, Number One...

I don't know about the first music my son ever heard but his first word was "Batman" eek and he would sing it to the Batman TV theme song when it came on the boob tube in re-runs... "Ba'man...dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah... Ba'man!" batman lol He was also a huge MJ fan when he was three years old. I also remember renting Moonwalker for him to watch and finding some of the videos somewhat strange...

If and/or when I have kids, they're only listening to the three M's for the first five years:

Monk
Mozart

McCartney
