She's one of the resons it's somewhat ridiculous to call Rihanna one of the best selling artists of all time. Not to slight Rihanna, but the over 200 million records sold means she is the best selling digital single sales artist of all time.

You simply can't put that in the same category as someone who has sold 100 million albums alone in addition to nearly (if not more than) 100 million singles.

What happened to Whitney Houston was a travesty

She was ostracized by both sides by the time the 80s ended.....

and people want to know why she gravitated towards making the choices she made over time

All she wanted to do was sing

but she was asked to be America's darling and when she turned that down, they crushed her

"They" were asking her to be something she wasn't and never wanted to be. We talked about this many times, Clive Davis originally presented an image of her that simply was not the truth. "They" did not crush her. She crushed herself.

She was led down a perilous path.....was at an age to where I was able to see it all transpire, bit by bit, step by step, and when her story is told in this day and age, they're still doing it w/out getting to the root core problem....

Her record execs at Arista had already set her up for major backlash 5 years after the fact

You can't advise a person staring out or at any time to refrain from conducting any type of report with publications, new sources, radio outlets representing a community of people who proved to be your foundational support from the beginning.....

you as a label exec can't tell a person they look too ethnic on their original album cover and coerce them to contort their took

because in the end, everyone gets shortchanged.
