I'm not sure if you're aware of this but some Hawaiians consider the stereotype of them liking
macadamia nuts to those of us Black people liking fried chicken. I'd like to give you the benefit
of the doubt and not consider you a racist, but just largely ignorant.

Probably because folks alredy have albums by D-Train, Cameo, The Time, Zapp, and Confunkshun.

24KMagic (the song) is more "Cutie Pie" by One Way with Grandmaster Flash "The Message" thrown in though

and if only 1 amongst 1000 young Bruno Mars fans cares enough to look up only one of those mentioned artist on spotify, then it's alright with me

Cutie Pie was the rock em sock em R&B jam throughout 1980, especially that summer. That jam was so great, it wasn't just kids such as myself loving it, but tge adults were loving it too

That's the thing, a group like One Way will never get their just due or recognition and this is a prime example of what I've been talking about what has taken place the past quarter century. The contemporaries of today are benefitting mightily of what was produced decades ago that took allot of effort to achieve

There should be a stipulation that should be etched in ink. When a current artist samples like this, let the publuc know right out the box before the single hits who you are sampling from

Or cut out sampling altogether but thats not gonna happen because that would be all she wrote

The bottom line is, the music from the 70s to the mid 80s was the best music there ever was and thats whats keeping the industry afloat

Well the question had already been answered, Metallica.

You're totally right. Some people on this board totally underestimate how incredibly popular Metallica is and has been for decades (and I'm not a fan, really, at all).

No real hard rock fans in here to care. Metallica fanbase is more loyal and larger than many have predicted. As well, their album got some outstanding hype and reviews. Dont forget about country, children soundtracks and mostly pop music have been the biggest sellers for a while now.

The way I see it is if you like that rnb funk sound more your going to lean towards 24k magic but on a song for song level his other album are superior. Its like off the wall vs thriller. Off the wall more disco funky rnb and thriller is like very tight rnb pop. But thriller beats off the wall on a song for song battle.

Sorry i did not express myself correctly. I meant, that to me his best album is Unorthodox, and although i think Doo-Wops is a better album all around, i like 24K muche better. Yeah basically what you said. razz

A while back-

many people on the Org were saying that this Album (24k) was

Bruno's Big chance to become the next Heavy Dude..

ie: Prince, MJ, ect..

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Possibly he strayed away from trying to make a 'POP' album-

In an attempt to Broaden his fan base by releasing 'grooves'

that

would

Appeal

To

A

more

'Urban'

audience

if that was his mission... it may have worked a bit before the recent Grammy performance/social media Backlash.

True but they can exist at the same time. Explain Adele and Taylor Swift.

If that were true then literally no other act would be scoring #1 songs and selling albums.

I totally agree with you, but what I mean is that these new hip hop artists (like Future and Migos) are dominating sales and streaming. Bruno is succesful, and so is Adele and Taylor Swift, but when it comes to young people, a larger majority of them are listening/talking about new hip hop/rap.
