nod Carlos' favorite artists are people like Miles Davis,Aretha Franklin, and of course he really liked Prince.Beyonce has talent but too often, she relies on gimmicks, props and other visual distractions. She constantly makes "visual albums" instead of just letting her music speak for itself.Adele gets up onstage and simply SINGS.Her voice and her voice alone is what people experience and it's refreshing to see.I think that's what Carlos was trying to say.

Exactly ! What Santana praises is musical artistry, as opposed to "show business" (Which is probably how he perceives Beyonce)

Agree that is exactly what he is trying to say. I am not sure why orgers are acting obtuse.

The thing is there is nothing new or different about Beyonce. She's been in the business since the 90s and everything she brings to the table has already been brought.

Maybe if this were 1997 instead of 2017, you could accuse Carlos of hating on the new kid on the block.

[Edited 2/16/17 13:34pm]

But now she's presented as this supreme goddess that no one can dare disagree with, and her loss of the Grammy for Album of the year is presented as a national tragedy on par with the assissination of JFK

Its really just the media. Most don't care about the Grammys and I dont see this excessive fascination over Beyonce in real life.

But how can you praise the artistry of Jennifer Lopez yet lambast Beyonce?

I'm just playing devil's advocate here. I guess the takeaway is that Lopez was never in consideration of a AOTY award so...

I wish I could find the Lopez quote somewhere.

it just seems that there is this big, unspoken rule that you can't criticize Queen Beyonce smile She must always be praised, complimented and given a handful of awards every year.I have never seen anything like this, lol. All I can say is,she must have an amazing team. They seem to have really scared people from talking bad about her.Carlos is one brave person (lol) but now even he is sorta apologizing for what he said...lol

Lol ok I think your exaggerating a lot.

I don't think by much biggrin...There's was an article in the NY Times by their hip-hop obsessed critic Jon Caranamica, where he's talking about the "racial divide" and "GrammyssoWhite#"....as if Beyonce losing this stupid award is akin to Brown losing the Supreme Court decision to the Board of Education

The PEOPLE wanted Adele to win. You Beyonce stans are delusional as hell wacky Look on twitter, yahoo, instagram etc. People wanted Adele to win and was bewildered with her kissing Beyonces ass. For crying out loud Adele had a DIAMOND album that outsold all over the world. NO ONE can't tell me that millions and millions of people thought an album that only sold 1 million units was better than an album that sold over 20 million units AND NOT only that Adele was the best seller for TWO years in a ROW.

Following your analogy, it would be reversed...Adele would have won the "popular" vote, since she sold a lot more records.

But the thing is, these awards are just people's opinions , and one can agree or disagree with the choices. I've probably disagreed with EVERY Grammy AOTY win ever, especially since the Stones and Springsteen and Prince and Led Zep and Marvin Gaye and too many to mention NEVER won

Yeah its getting rediculous now.

Beyonce lost because her, Justin Beiber and Drake where "non-factor" nominees and she definitely belonged in that camp.

David Bowie, who many felt should've been nominated, wasn't.

That left Adele, who had the last mega-selling album we'll ever see in our lifetime, with a voice that apparently everyone loves.

Adele made matters worse by forcing the issue (damage control IMHO).

Frank Ocean chimed in for reasons only known to him (but truth be told, if he had won AOTY in 2013 after that performance he gave last time people really would've been giving the side eye).

Solange chimed in by sticking up for big sis instead of stewing about the fact that she wasn't nominated herself (Seat is to me a much more organic statement then Lemonade tried to achieve but that's just me).

Now critics who in a different age would've known better are stoking the fires.

It's a strange world we live in.

Its one of the most craziest things I have ever seen. Even reading on this site there are people still trying to defend her when there is no logical or legitimate reason for it. eek What is the psychology behind this? I attribute it to propaganda manipulation as well as group think but even still this adulation of Beyonce exceeds that and it appears the media worships her as a "deity"and expects people to do the same. Its really really creepy. EVEN if she had MJ or Stevie Wonder types of talent, no human being deserves to be treated like they are "perfect" or treated like a "deity"

EXACTLY smile

If they had given AOTY to Beyonce OVER Adele. Adele would have technically been snubbed BIG time and there would have been a backlash, I firmly believe that. Outside of the Beyonce stans, nobody doesn't care that she did not win. Most felt Adele deserved to win.

It amazes me how obsessed some people get about Beyonce, and for the most part it is not her fans. The only reason why I bothered to post in this thread earlier is that it started to have the crazy feel of a witch hunt. I never really even thought much about her before. At this point, the continuing harangue about how off everyone is who says anything positive about her is just beatdeadhorse

By your saying it means that The Joshua Tree did deserve the Grammy for Album Of The Year in 1988 instead of Sing O' The Times, because i´m pretty sure U2's album sold way more albums than Prince with SOTT. You're ridiculous, you take account of sales whenever it fits your narrative and say otherwise when does not fit.

Blame it on that hater named mjcarousal, she must envy beyoncé. She doesn't give any credit to Beyoncé,it's just too much; although she has some fair points, most of her narrative is over the top.

I disagree with this article in that they try to make this a racial issue, saying that the Grammy's do not reward "BLACK Innovation"...I think that should be amended to say the Grammys' don't generally honor "INNOVATION. PERIOD". ...Some of the greatest albums in music history , such as "Exile on Main Street" by the Rolling Stones, or "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd, or "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen, or "Led Zeppelin IV", or "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye, or "There's a Riot Going on " by Sly and the Family Stone, were never nominated. "Revolver" by the Beatles and "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys, in recent polls voted 2 of the top albums of all time, were NOT nominated. I don't think Beyonce or Kanye West or Frank Ocean are anywhere in that league

Good point. The Grammys have discriminated against Black acts in the past but they have snubbed White acts too. For example, I love Queen and they are legendary and iconic but never won any Grammys. There have been far more talented, influential and groundebreaking artists and albums that have been snubbed by the Grammys.
