also, while probably not categorizable as funk (but with definite funk sensibilities), you might enjoy ween...dean ween is a prince acolyte, and a helluva player in his own right. i'd recommend 'chocolate and cheese' as a good starting point.

The Ohio Players song "What The Hell" has some nice guitar. Also, as mentioned above Slave has some songs with good guitar work..."Slide" to name one song

Self titled debut from DAG (1994?)...Their lead guitarist is a cross between Ernie Isley and Freddie Stone. Funkadelic's "Let's Take It To The Stage" and "One Nation" are good picks too.

I just DIE every time I hear the version of this from Tamar's Chicago show. Prince just absolutely tears the holy living SH*T out of his guitar in the solo at the end and when it's over, you hear a girl say, "Not bad, Prince. Not bad!"

Not F***ING bad?!?!?!? falloff

I was three feet from Prince when he played the solo to this at the Houston Tamar show. Still the greatest guitar solo I have ever seen anyone play, ever.

OK, after wasting a half hour trying to figure out how to embed Youtube videos here are just the sonfs identified ...

Few more recommendations:

Minds Under Construction - Bootsy

You Got the Love - Rufus

Maybe Your Baby - Stevie Wonder

Sir Psycho Sexy - Red Hot Chili Peppers

I also like the Run-DMC rock tracks like King of Rock, Rock Box and Raising Hell.

Can someone please either post how to embed videos here or send me an org note - PLEASE

Thanks in advance!

Do this...

You can see examples when you are creating a 'reply w/ quote' post to a post which contains an embedded YouTube video.

It worked! Knew it had to be simple. Here is another funk-guitar classic, instrumental. Wicked guitar courtesy of the one and only Marc "Drac" Hicks, RIP.
