I'm embarrassed to admit that I have never heard Cameo's 'Style' album  That album seems like it came and went without leaving a trace! The title track is the only song I heard from it.What's the story with this album? Was it underpromoted? Is it any good? | |

It's was decent. Not spectacular. The second single from this album was the lazy remake of Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love. You're A Winner which I thought was the standout track on the album and there is actually live footage of Cameo performing the song live in recent shows. Other standout tracks were Aphrodisiac and This Life's Not For Me. They made an attempt to repeat Alligator Woman with Let's Not Talk Slot which was pretty much filler material as well as Cameo's Dance. Slow Movin was pretty decent too. This album just lacked that fire that previous Cameo albums had but this was also their debut album on Larry's upstart Atlanta Artists label too. Don't laugh at my funk

I felt the second single should have been
the title track has the exact same bassline and music as "Just Be Yourself" from the previous album.I always felt that Ready For The World sorta borrowed this groove when they composed "Oh Sheila"
I'm gonna look for this album and finally give it a listen.I wonder if it's on Spotify. | |

Those two tracks are mirror images of each other. I had Style on a cassette that stopped playing years ago but I recall it to be a solid satisfying Cameo experience. I'm into that old Cameo though. Interestingly enough they had greatest commercial success in the 80s. Wow I had also forgot that Lets Not Talk Slot is Aliigator Woman all over again. Memories. [Edited 3/5/17 10:56am] | |

Prince was playing Sly inspired funk licks over an LM-1 Drum machine. Sly laid the groundwork for All the funk people that came after the innovations of Him, JB, and Clinton.. FUNK is SLY Prince is the Best damn student ever! and Super funky!!! but.. imho he never 'improved' upon what other's did before him. = FUNK-wise.

Features: Mother Popcorn Mashed Potatoes Popcorn Popcorn With a Feeling Top Of the Stack I'm Shock You're Still Out of Sight The Little Groove Maker The only track not a funk workout is the pop standard "If I Ruled The World" he also does a cover of "Any Day Now" and while keeping is popish he still somewhat funk'd it up with the horn and guitar licks.
