ok people... Mariah Carey needs her career saved... How would you do it?

Given last nights most patheic performance in the history of live TV, fair to say she will NEVER recover from that (remember Ashlee Simpson??) You have been appointed to resurect her crumbling career... How would you do it?

  1. lose the corny Vegas stage show act... way way too much going on...
  2. for your live performances we'll get you a stool...sit there..have someone with an acoustic guitar..do your "hits"... let's be honest...she cant dance and sing at the same time... the less movement the better
  3. swallow your pride...collaborate with younger artists, Taylor, Demi and others to keep your name out there.. truth be told...kids today are not looking to stream/download the latest MC single
  4. her image... her career was born on pop music and dressing conservative and that sold millions...

I do not agree with performing with younger artists. It would make her seem desperate. At this point, she's an icon, so she should stand strong and on her own. I think she should take a little break. Regroup and start making songs that she can actually sing live. If it means singing in a lower register, then so be it. Boy George's voice has completely changed. It's much more gravelly now but when I saw him perform this summer, he did the right thing and lowered the key changes in his hits and it worked. Does he sound the way he did in 83? No! But at least it was a dignified performance. Mimi should do the same. Plus, get in better shape and wear clothes that suit her body type. Either lose weight and wear skimpy clothes or stay the same and dress more appropriately. This is just my two cents:)

Oh....and just sit there and sing. No freaking pyrotechnics and Chippendale dancers. Ugh!

first of all we have this debate about so many that are OLDER now. First thing is this what does SHE want to be.

SO from those points I would say this.

1. Vegas works for those WHO MAKE IT WORK. Elton, Lionel and others have no issues with it, and tour seperately. Residence performances work if you have the ability to be and do good live shows. SHE does not know how and has no good people around her.

2. I dont mind the idea of going acoustic because it shows some type of thought and change into these shows.

3. Collabos are over. Not going to work, for a lot of reasons. MARIAH is almost 50, this is and has always been for decades all about AGE and AGE-ISM. A duet with Demi Lovato whom by the way she already said she has never heard of, is NOT going to help her. Taylor does not need nonsense like that at this point.

4. Her image is what she is using to keep her going lets face it. It has been that way for some time now. Mariah putting on a suit now is not going to save her or restore her and give her hits and praise.

She has voice issues and it has never been addressed so she is never getting out of it. It is very easy to do this. Look at ELTON JOHN he has re-adjusted all his songs for his low register since his surgery in 1987. Mariah has not changed a think about any of these songs nor has whomever handles her performances, if she has a music director they need to be fired and a REAL one brought in. Someone needs to just say LOOK you can't sing these songs the same way, accept it and move on. She needs to just work on her own do something totally unexpected. Re work the songs and then release them and then tour on it. Doing duets with Demi or Selena gomez is not a good move its actually more hilarious plus she is not going to share a stage like that. Mariah has this image of DIVA that she just can't let go but the thing is it works if you are TINA TURNER but it is so phony on Mariah. She's sexy and we get it, but she is boring and has been for a long time.

Some good points all except hooking up with young artists. Madonna keeps doing that and its desperate ... like admitting your talent isn't enough to get it done anymore.

Never been a big Mariah fan but her Butterfly album was great. She needs to disappear for a year or two, get in better shape, rework her voice, find a more down to Earth image. Can't see her doing it though, too lazy too proud, whatever.

The music she has been releasing has been really bad for awhile and that is just reality. And trying to pull Taylor Swift into your mess to help you is crazy. The thing is the material she has and YES a lot of the hits are just not that great and can't be re-worked. I mean do we need an acoustic version of "SHAKE IT OFF" or "TOUCH MY BODY"? She just does not have it and has no one around her that knows what to do.

Mariah needs to take a serious break from entertainment and work on her personal issues. She has experienced a lot of turmoil these last few years with her bad divorce to Nick Cannon and now her latest nasty seperation from her fiance. She should focus on raising her small children and bettering herself. I could be wrong but I think Mariah has serious self-esteem and image issues. I think Mariah wants to be in a loving relationship and wants a family and was hurt by the way she was treated in her marriage to Nick. She was taken advantage of in all her marriages and I think that has negatively affected her. She also has low self-efficacy and uses the "diva persona" as a crutch.

Her esteem issues were always there but all these artists have some sort of issue. SO with her it is just make better choices get rid of people around you, she clearly needs a new team around her. She is now a trending topic which is the LAST thing an artist needs.

That but most importantly, she needs to take a break, re-group, reflect and work on issues. Everyone goes through their own issues and things they can improve but its important to recognize these issues and work on them.

1. Just stop performing and recording altogether.

2. Enjoy your money.

3. Enjoy life.

4. Only make a comeback when you actually have something to say/bring.

the term comeback is always used and yet what exactly are these artists coming back from? Justin Timberlake makes a new record, and its his comeback? whats he coming back from selling millions? Every time an artist makes a new album is not a comeback. To me the only comeback was when Gloria Estefan walked on stage and sang a year after her bus crash and having a steel rod in her back. that is a comeback, making a new album after 3 years is just doing your what you say you love to do.

CynicKill

Write a children's book.

If she has a talent we're not aware of, write a novel (Molly Ringwald).

If she could sing then an album of jazz standards would work (Ringwald, Streisand).

She's a good actress. Try to get into a film or two, and don't be afraid to get a little ugly. And don't make a big deal about if you you do.

I agree with this, but Mariah seems like the type of vain person who would never want the world to see her looking "ugly" smile

I'm reminded of her role in "Precious". They made a big deal about how stripped down and unglam her look was when she didn't look THAT much different. She looked like her.

She played in "Precious" and wore no make up and even wore her natural hair color.

Oh c'mon! No she did not!

I applaud Mariah for playing that role because most pop divas would not have

Ok I give maybe she didn't, but she didn't go full on Charlize Theron. But they did make a big deal about it. I guess they all do, but you don't have to.

Diana Ross, a gifted actress way above most singer's lead, turned off Oscar voters because it was assumed that Motown was acting as if she already won the award.

Burt Reynolds did the same thing with his campaign for Boogie Nights.

My point is to let the work speak for itself.

Part of her career being saved is a practice of some humility.

I definitly agree with this. She definitly seems very narcistic and self centered. I was shocked when I watched her interview with Andy Cohen. She was throwing shade at Arianda and other singers but why??? From my understanding Arianda has always spoke positively of her so I am not sure why she was being so mean towards her.

Put the muppet boobies away and learn to sing like a regular human again. It is so unflattering to see a mature, talented woman be like "oops I messed up but at least my boobage is on point." Jiggle jiggle. I'd rather see her pop a nip straining for a high note than the Betty Boop shtick she has been doing since 2000.

To be fair, just one of Mariah's massive boobies is more talented and entertaining than Ariana Grande could ever aspire to be.

Her boobies might be more talented but can you say the same for her voice?

And honestly what's wrong with a woman almost fifty not shading a girl half your age with a snippy remark, but with a kick-ass song to show the upstart how it's really done?

Mariah hasn't made a decent song in so long... I can't make it thru half of a Grande tune tho, give me some old school Mariah and I'm ok. I miss the Marian of "The Roof" and "My All". That chick was cool and clever.
