According to The Sun: Sales and streaming figures for George's most popular tracks have surged by 5625% since his death, according to the Official Charts Company.

I will shoot the messenger, why post these. Who needs to see these hazy ass, I look like Mark Abrams from Color Me Badd photos. Can you imagine someone dredging through ALL your photos and pulling out the very worst after you die to insult you. Hnece why in this reporst of your post, I deleteed the link and them.

Look through this thread. The subject of his obesity was first brought up by someone else, they were called a liar and troll as some refused to believe it. So I wanted to set the record straight, and the only way to do so was to provide evidence - which I did.

It's unfortunate you view our seeking the truth about what happened as an "insult", especially when I presented the evidence as respectfully as possible. And why do you assume George was embarrassed about his weight gain? You're projecting.

And yes, if I die at a young age I'd want my loved ones to know the truth. It helps with closure.

What did everyone think of Patience as an album?

I remember buying it when it came out, and being a bit disappointed, as it's not a patch on Older. I've given it a few more spins since his passing, and its better than I remembered, but still a little lacking in places.

i keep saying i lost interest by then, listen without prejudice was bland to me. but i have been hearing diferent things about his later work and i intend to check it all out. however, if they turn out not to be as good as the stuff he did in his early twenties, he certainly wouldn't be alone. Once a guy has some success, the inspiration dries up as they live high off the hog. that's where prince was unusual.

The only problem with Listen Without Prejudice is the title - I'll definitely pick up the reissue.
I got a bit tired of his slow tempo singles he seemed to be so enamoured with - his greatness was in his brilliant uptempo POP. Few people have done it better but he was stuck on those slow ass ballads 😴

I haven't gone through all the pages of this thread, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but SiriusXM is doing a George Michael tribute on channel 13. I've been enjoying it since yesterday. thumbs up!

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Seems the date hasn't been set because the coroner hasn't released him according to the article. A private and a public service will be held when that happens.

I strongly believe he killed himself, unfortunately. He looked bloated not fat, which could indicate he was taking antidepressants and/or some sedatives. He had a history of depression, he had two relatives who committed suicide themselves and he had complication from pneumonia, which left him with less 20% of his lung capacity and most likely affected his singing, and I believe he had also tried before, with that falling out of the car incident.

.

Some talk that he may have learned he was HIV positive sometime after 2008? If that's true (no judgement), he may have been taking some of the newer HIV medications which are known to cause suicidal thoughts. Combine that with his family history of suicide... and well, it's just all the more saddening. Poor guy. Hope he's at peace. He brought a lot of joy to a lot of people with his music and voice. :/

Love it.

I seen in an interview where his dad said that GM kept taking his jeans to his mom for her to patch them. His mother finally told him, they couldn't be patched anymore. His dad also said that he (the dad) kept a couple pair of GMs jeans in a drawer. I bet he's glad he has them now.

I thought "White Light" was nothing special when it first came out, but now that I've listened to it several times I think it's really good. I've always dug "Outside", I think it's a masterpiece in its own genre and definitely a daring piece of music from a mainstream artist. "White Light"'s like the more mature, sinister version of "Outside". Some criticized him from the use of Autotune during that time, but I think it works on the track too.

Actually, I think the track that was criticized by many for its use of Autotune was "True Faith", his New Order cover. My bad.

I'm a mid-80's kid, so I was lucky enough to grow up with Motown stars who had later success (Stevie, MJ, Smokey), pop, alternative, soul, you name it. This is just another in a string of great artists who've I've heard that died young. Sad to say the least.

I heard it this weekend on the SiriusXM tribute channel to George. But I think the version I heard was a club mix or something, it was very funky, I liked it.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

So, because he might have looked like he had an extra stone or two on him, people didn't like a video? How silly of them, and shallow. The video was some pretty great technology and CGI at work, which is one reason I love GM videos. They're either technologically forward thinking, or simply cinematic art. The video for "Jesus To A Child" are beyond beautiful. "Spinning The Wheel" is, too. (To name a couple.)
