To all the people saying f 2016 not to be a bearer of bad news but you shouldn't expect death to be more lenient as time goes on it will mostly likely get worst as legends age and become fragile. Even though a couple of people who passed this year was relatively young. Anyway rip again George Michael, beautiful soulful voice and good songwriter. [Edited 12/25/16 15:52pm]

You are right. As long as I can remember baby boomers and generation x artists (Im borderline between gen x and early millianial) are the artists I like the most and both generations are aging off. I don't know if my heart is going to take this as years progressed.

I dont like this at all.

Damn... disbelief

Even though i always felt that George Michael had a really good voice, I really didn't come to appreciate him until later in life...

The heavy weight of grief has been unbearable this year. Rest well George and thank you for all the wonderful memories your music left me. I just have no more tears to shed right now. The loss of Prince tore open my soul and today I feel like salt has been poured in. 😪

I am still barely able to cope with Prince leaving us - this is just too much on top. I admired his work and Careless Whispers was a special song to me as a teenager. A few more days to go of 2016 - I hope no more heartache...............

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

The performer died of heart failure, according to his longtime manager.
George Michael has died of heart failure, according to the singer's longtime manager Michael Lippman.

The English singer, songwriter and record producer who rose to fame with the group Wham! in the 1980s was found on Christmas morning, says Lippman.

"It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period," his rep said in a statement to the BBC. "The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."

Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, George! Wow! Another shocker! I didn't even know he was sick. I was hoping to catch him in concert the next time he tours the U.S. So sad. Another one of my childhood music idol gone too soon. 😔

The Hollywood Reporter is saying this:

"I'm devastated," Lippman said on Sunday. The manager received a call on Christmas morning notifying him that Michael had been found "in bed, lying peacefully." The exact time of death is not clear at this time, but there was "no foul play whatsoever," said Lippman.

The death by heart failure was unexpected, he added. Funeral plans will be announced shortly

So maybe they actually don't know when he died, is why they said he passed over the Christmas Period. sad

cry It's terribly sad news, but I honestly can't say it's a surprise. I had been preparing myself for this headline for years.

George was my favorite voice (along with Prince) and my most enduring favorite music artist throughout my life. Even as my musical tastes evolved and changed, sometimes dramatically, George was always that constant.

All my favorite artists from the 80s are gone now. sad

May you finally be at peace, George. rose

Thames Valley Police say the death "is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious." An autopsy will take place in the coming days and police say they won't give an update until those results come in.............

man, another sucker punch to the gut.

.

I remember - distinctly remember- just totally hating "wake me up before you go-go".

(frankly, I still cringe now when I hear that song..)

I didn't like "careless whisper" much at 1st either.. but then that song grew on me.

then, with "everything she wants" I got Wham/George Michael.

.

then, indeed, for me, the grand-slam-homerun-with-two-outs-in-the-bottom-of-the-9th was

FATHER FIGURE.

he rose above most others with that song.

then there was "freedom 90" & a handful of other good songs.

.

it was interesting to see how George Michael did mature as an artist.

above all, a very talented singer & songwriter.

.

I know better than to ask "who's next" now - I don't want to know..

I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I am so sad for his fans all over the world. I am still yet to come to terms with April. I know how for some he was such a huge part of not only their life...such as the sound track... but a part of who they are.... my heart aches... and i am truly sadded by this. I miss Prince deeply but tonight I will more George Michael... Cheers! Rest in Peace...
