Jamie Foxx is teaming up with Passe Jones Entertainment's Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones, to produce a limited series that will chronicle the life of soul icon Marvin Gaye.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx will executive produce the series, while Passe and Jones will shop it to media outlets. "I've been a huge fan my whole life. His brilliance in music unparalleled," says Foxx. "Marvin Gaye's story has always fascinated me." |

Foxx has received the support of Gaye's family, who, until now refused to authorize a project about the music icon. "This project will be a powerful and definitive telling of Marvin Gaye's life story," says the singer's son Marvin Gaye III, who will also serve as an executive producer on the series.

Motown founder Berry Gordy also has given his blessing, adding, "Marvin was the truest artist I have ever known. I am confident that this is the right team to bring his story to the audience in an authentic and compelling way."

This is not the first attempt to give Gaye the biopic treatment. Gary Gray, Cameron Crowe, James Gandolfini, Scott Rudin and actors including Jesse L. Martin and Lenny Kravitz all have tried to bring Gaye's memorable story to screen.

I hope they can make it happen. His is a story that should be told.

.

I was hoping something would be done for theaters. But since it's not, for it to be a truly "powerful and definitive telling of Marvin Gaye's life story" it'll have to be on cable t.v. If it's on network t.v. it'll be too watered down and just a waste of time.

.

I have to add, I love that picture of him! biggrin

I hope it's good. Most TV movies on the life of a celebrity or big budget movie I'm. not too crazy about. I liked Ray, I thought Get on Up ,Mommy Dearest were Pretty good but hated The Jackson's: American Dream, TLC, Whitney.
