I remember him....like Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and Vanity he came from Canada. Sunglasses at Night was a mega hit in 1984, and he was a bit of a heart throb. He also had a song on the 9 and 1/2 Weeks Soundtrack (1986) called Eurasian Eyes which I really like music

Corey is 54 and has been married twice and has 2 kids and still makes music. He has released 10 albums....the last one I think in 2014, and had about 30 Top 40 hits in Canada where is he a bigger star than the US.

Whoa! Corey Hart... this name rings the bells.

.

If you were a kid in Canada in the 80s, he was pretty un-escapable. Not really a 'two-hit wonder' for us -- according to Wiki, he had thirty top-40 hits in Canada (eleven in the top-10).

.

Interesting Corey Hart factoids:

- he grew up speaking English, Spanish, and French

- Eric Clapton plays dobro on his first album, which was recorded in Manchester

- 'Never Surrender' spent nine weeks at #1 in Canada in 1985

Now, that's interesting. I didn't know he had that many hits in Canada.

If I were a recording artist I would be happy with a non U.S. fan base/following. They seem to have a love and respect for R&B/Soul music. More than we do over here. It's seems they are there if you have something new out or you haven't dropped two albums in12 yrs. At least that seemed to be my observation while I was there.

Somebody sampled Sunglasses At Night years ago, but I don't remember what the song was.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

IIRC, the way he got "discovered" was that he found himself on an airplane with...Cher? Someone like that. Anyway, he gave her a cassette of his songs and Cher/whomever passed it on to a record executive, and the rest was history!
