Favorite Funk-Rock band from these?

Before these bands kind off slicked out their material (not a bad thing) they were all boardering on a Funk-Rock style with some jazz mixed in for a few of the bands. So before they all got that cross over success, who was your favorite. And, who stuck more to their roots once they went to to the other side?

Bar-Kays - STAX version

Earth, Wind & Fire - Pre-That's The Way of the World LP

Funkadelic - Westbound version

Kool & the Gang - Pre-JT version

Ohio Players - Junie Morrison version

Love them all, but I stayed with Funkadelic. Even with their radio sucess in 78-79, they still stayed nasty and raw. They also kept the electric guitars up front too.

Awesome stuff! I watched this entire concert on YouTube a couple months back and it was fab from start to finish. I also loved Cosmic Slop and Let Me Ride (The Mothership's coming). Funky!! cool biggrin
