Kate Bush To Release Rare Live Recordings

Kate Bush To Release Rare Live Recordings

Before The Dawn is out Dec. 2 on Concord Records.

Courtesy of the artist
.

Kate Bush has toured only once in the last 35 years. Fortunately, that string of live performances, at the Hammersmith Apollo in London in 2014, was recorded and will soon be available for everyone to hear. Concord Records will release Before The Dawn, a three-disc set of the recordings, on Dec. 2. Bush produced the set herself, with no additional recording or overdubs.

.

The 22-concert run, which sold out in less than 15 minutes, marked Bush's first live shows since 1979. The three-disc set includes a live version of "Prologue," from her 2005 album Aerial. Bush shared the song on herwebsite earlier today.

.

I was there. It was a fantastic show. But given how theatrical it was, I'm surprised there's no DVD/Blu-Ray release? It was closer to a theatre performance than a pop concert. Lots of staging and props etc.

I really don't understand why she didn't film at least one show and put it out on DVD. So many people wanted to see these shows and never got the chance...

I've heared (yeah, I know, it's a rumour) that the shows were filmed. So maybe after working on the audio, Kate is now working on the video and in another two years... (just guessing...)

"The concerts were filmed over two nights in September, for a possible DVD/Blu-ray release, but Kate has never said anything publicly about such a release."

http://www.katebushnews.c...dawn-live/

I fully expected a DVD and/or Blu Ray release of this. After this long, that seems unlikely, though I would expect healthy demand for such a release. If I had known there wouldn't be a release, I would have made every effort to get to one of the shows. neutral

Kate takes her time. If she needd two years to finish the album, who knows how long she'll need to finish a (possible) DVD.

I won't be surprised if she releases it as an actual film, with a limited run in theaters, before releasing a dvd/bluray.

I'd love to see it in a movie theater. The next best thing to seeing it performed live...

Lol, good point about her taking awhile to do projects! Maybe there's still hope we'll get a film and/or DVD/blu ray of the show. smile

You're welcome. A soundtrack is better than nothing at all, but yeah, I hope she's brave enough to release the visuals. smile

What's to not understand?? I get that she may not be everybody's cup of tea, but... well, actually I don't. How can anyone not get the greatness that is Kate Bush?

No prob. Just don't listen to it. There's plenty of music I don't get... Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson... So I'll just forget about it... I also know lotsa people don't "get" Bob Dylan or Frank Zappa or Prince... Kate is up there with the best of them, but if you don't like her, that's cool... cool
