Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le on Lifetime in October

This October, Lifetime will air Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le, which tells the tale of Michel'le Toussaint, who rose to fame in the early days of rap as the so-called "First Lady of Ruthless Records." Surrounded by industry titans like Eazy-Z , Tupac Shakur, and obviously Suge Knight and Dr. Dre, she achieved major chart success – only to have it tarnished by betrayal and corrupt business dealings.

Her romantic relationship with Dre lasted for nearly a decade, during which time she veered further into a world ruled by substance abuse and crime. A blossoming affair with Knight, Dre's friend and business partner, would offer temporary salvation, but ultimately complicate all of their lives.

Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le will premiere on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.

“You’re kidding me this chick sounds like Minnie Mouse,” Curtis Hamilton, playing Dr. Dre, says in the trailer.

He is then blown away by the strength of Michel’le’s singing voice.

“I’m guessing that makes me N.W.A now?” Rhyon Nicole Brown, playing Michel’le, says.

The guys laugh, but the next scene shows how she was accepted by the group.

“You’ll be Ruthless Records’ first female artist,” is the response.

Michel’le started working with Dre on the World Class Wreckin Cru’s 1987 cut “Turn Off the Lights.” She had a child with Dr. Dre in 1991, though she stated that Dre abused her and reportedly had to have her nose surgically corrected as a result.

The film is expected to show all aspects of their relationship.

“I gave you this track a week ago, where is it?,” Dre says in the trailer.

“I can’t work like this Dre, you’re hurting me,” She responds.

“You sing it like you feel it or I’ma kick your ass,” Dre says.

Michel’le was married to Suge Knight for eight years starting in 1999 and their relationship will be shown in the film as well.

The movie will also feature a portrayal Jerry Heller.

And if you take Danny Boy's story seriously, Michel'le also has an one night stand with 2pac.

There’s a popular saying that goes: “There are three sides to every story: the sides of both parties involved, and the truth.”

When it comes to Dr. Dre and Michel’le, both sides are still arguing what the truth is.

When Straight Outta Compton was released Michel’le felt some kind of way that she was left out of the film in regards to Dr. Dre, who she alleges abused her while they were dating.

Michel’ le is deciding to tell her side of the story on October 15, which is when the Lifetime biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, and Michel’le is set to air.

Dr. Dre must have heard about his portrayal as an abusive lover because he is planning to sue Sony Pictures if the TV movie is ever released.

This was a REALLY good movie! Michel'le lived a very tragic and tough life! I am so glad she was courageous in telling her story and I feel her story was a more truthful portrayel of NWA versus "Straight outta Compton". Her movie paints Dre and Cube in a more accurate light, same with Eazy and Jerry Heller who imo were misrepresented in SOC. It was nice to see her dedicate the film to Jerry Heller. She seems to have big respect for him as well as Eazy.

I really would like to see a documentary on Suge Knight because how did a criminal become a CEO of a record label? He was out there killing, stabbing and robbing people AND still running a record label? eek I really feel for Michel'le her movie is inspiring to women. Sistas NEVER, EVER compromise your dreams, goals and worth for NO triflin ass man!!! Never stay with a man that puts his hands on you and disrespects you! Everything that glitter ain't gold! The men in the movie were awful. I love Hip Hop and Rap music but I can just imagine the ordeal and disrespect the women, video girls, etc go through behind the scenes.

Actually, it wasn't that bad of a movie, especially for it to be on Lifetime. The only thing I would say is if they could've cut out the real Michel'le narrating the movie...it made it feel like one of those crime shows on the ID Discovery network, lol. All jokes aside though, seems Dre was an ok guy until he got drunk/high and turned into one of those type men who get really mean and violent under the influence. But dude really ALREADY had 5 kids when they first started dating???? No ma'am. And Suge...no words. She should've trusted her instincts about him from the beginning but I get it, when you are already being treated like garbage by one guy and then this other guy comes along and seems to be better then you tend to dismiss the red flags....but Suge was worse than Dre IMO. He completely manipulated her like her puppet. SMH. I hope she was eventually able to finally find a nice guy to treat her right.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

It's horrible and we can only imagine what REALLY goes on behind the scenes. The whole line when Suge's wife tells Michel'le how stupid she is for believing anything Suge says to her was crazy...like isn't he playing you too? lol But when she said that Suge was like "I took Dre's label and his bitch too"...wow. Michel'le's whole relationship with Suge was a complete joke...but that's not to say that she was 100% victim here, she knew he was married and the criminal activity he was involved in so, in a way, what did she expect?

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I agree

Its possible Suge led her on in the beginning but at some point

Suge told her he was married and she seemed to be "okay" with being his mistress after that. I gave a major side eye to that. Also, her grandmother gave her awful advice with advising her to stay with Dre despite his abuse and Dre was abusive even when he wasn't drinking. He would call her out her name, belittle her, put his hands on her, etc even when he wasn't drunk. On the video behind the scenes of "Nicety", Dre was sober when he cussed at her and beat her. I give Dre a MAJOR side eye but I been side eyeing for that bs movie Straight outta Compton which was mostly inaccurate.

Stop. Pump the brakes. I guess you're not familiar with some of the behind the scenes of rock videos, huh? It's not just hip-hop. And Google the infamous incident with the Go Gos.

I'm confused, who blamed a victim here? lol My statements are NOT blaming her, all I'm saying is after looking at the movie, my opinion is that I felt sorry for her when she was with Dre' because no woman should have to go through that, especially when she was a rising star in the industry and needed guidance, but when she got with Suge, she already knew that he was no good...yet she accepted his money and all was supposed to had been good. She saw how awful he treated people and she foolishly thought that he was better than Dre' and believed everything he said. And as I said before she KNEW HE WAS ALREADY MARRIED and still carried on with him. Again, how can you expect things to turn out like a fairytale when you already started off wrong? She said that she "slept with Suge because she wanted to" and there it is. I'm not saying in any way, shape or form that she deserved what she got from him, but she knowingly put herself in yet another potential abusive situation. Life is hard enough with unpleasant and unexpected situations but when you can make a decision to avoid situations that you know could put you in harm's way, wouldn't you go in the opposite direction?

Anyway, I'm glad that she was able to move on from her past and able to walk away before she lost her life.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
