I always liked this record. It was very Prince influenced with different styles of music on every track and excellent production. Anybody like this album?

Its the only GM album I own on vinyl (other than Wham!). Front to back great tunes. Even Hand To Mouth and Look At Your Hands are good.

Yeah, I used to see it as a serving platter for the singles, but these days I play it end-to-end. The only thing I would change is... I am used to the remix for "Monkey". I am glad they included all the single versions in the deluxe edition.

Yeah I like the J&T remix too. Had to buy that single just to have it. The deluxe edition looks bad ass.

One of the ultimate albums of the 80s. I dont listen to it much anymore, but thats only because i listened to it so much. Every song is magic, though i think IWYS is too long for the album. Would have been better with just part 1 and than the next track. The j&l remix is great, but i think too bombastic for the flow of the album.

I agree. If Prince had put Pt. 2 and 3 of I Wish U Heaven on Lovesexy it would have drowned it out big time. I don't know why he did that. Saving it for the single would have been more appropriate. I find myself skipping when i'm not in the mood for the whole 9 minutes

I was just listening to the vinyl the other day. Love this album. Hand To Mouth is one of my favorites- love the instrumental track for that song.

Excellent album. It carried "Keanu".

George Michael is one of the best male voices in the industry. Faith is such a pivotal album in his career, and in the music industry. It was one of the very first digitally recorded albums. The technology in front of, and behind, the board was revolutionary. You also got to know just how prolific and talented GM really was when it came to not just writing a great hook, but playing all the instruments, and layering vocals. Still through the 80s, many solo acts used other singers as backing vocals. I've always said any truly great artist has their own Thriller. For Madonna, it was probably Like A Virgin or Like A Prayer. For Prince, it was Purple Rain. For Janet it was probably Control or Rhythm Nation 1814. For GM, it was Faith.

The influence of Prince on him and his music is clear throughout his career, whether intentional or circumstantial.

Faith had everything he learned from Prince. Strong opening tracks (namely that the title track is the first, or last, track on the record). A gospel-tinged spiritual song. A couple of ballads that would make panties drop and dicks swell up like a bee sting without an EPI pen. A funk work out. Some straight head sex songs, a few social or political mentions here and there. Put a sexy pic on the cover, throw in some random symbology, and make some amazing videos. You got yourself a fucking hit like no other. "I Want Your Sex" is right up there with "Let's Pretend We're Married" or "Automatic", "Private Joy", or "Head".

PS If you've never heard the full version of "I Want Your Sex", with the rarely heard Part III (each part called Rhythm) fully incorporated, you should. It's slightly different in the intro, and the blend from Rhythm 2 into Rhythm 3 is better heard without the fades on Faith CD. Oddly, the full mix started out as a b-side to another track to "Hard Day" if memory serves. "Rhythm 2: Brass In Love" is often used on compilations instead of the more familiar "Rhythm One: Lust" we initially knew. "Rhythm Three: A Last Request" is more mellow take on it, where the narrator tries to seduce his date as he gets him/her drunk. It's a 13-minute journey, divided into sections just like "Computer Blue", "Temptation", or even the first four tracks on Parade.

By the way, those five symbols on the record stand for: Faith, Music, Money, Religion, Love - everything on the record.

Loved it then and loved it now. He has always been one of my favourite artists since the Wham! days. George has a wonderful voice and is a likeable guy.

My favourite song on faith is One More try, his command of the emotional cry and vocal is incredible. But really love Father Figure, Faith, Monkey and I want your sex. George is just incredible. Also considering he was gay and this is total straight sounding music and lyrics, he is a supreme actor.

George's gayness has always been a point of solidarity for me, despite the bog nonsense, I still consider him one of the finest gay artists out there.

Great album and great tour......I saw him in 1988 in Sydney oh the memories I just wish the tour was available on dvd/blu ray

As a super-youngin when Faith was released, the album had a huge impact on me and my early discovery of my love for music. It was my first tape, and my siblings and I played the hell out of that album. Not only is Faith a massive part of my siblings' and mine's childhoods, it's ingrained into my musical DNA. My brother, sister and myself actually went to see Ol' George back in 2008 at MSG during his hits tour and we had a blast. A real bonding moment for the 3 of us. He was our first concert too, back in 91 at the Spectrum in Philly, so in a way it was as if we had come full circle. FANTASTIC music. Father Figure (and the video) is one of the most incredible songs of all time.

One More Try and Kissing A Fool introduced me to "adult" music at that young age, and they were incredible songs then AND Now! Anybody ever have sex to these 2?

I'm a huge fan of George, but I feel this album has too much cheese to stand the test of time.

Other than the title track - all the uptempo songs (Monkey, I want your sex) are pretty lame. He was definately trying to be something he was not and it didn't come across as authentic.

With 'Listen without prejudice' and 'Older' he was being his true self. 'Faith' was a huge marketing ploy by his record label to appeal to the American audience, he neglected his European fanbase to chase the sounds of late 80s American pop hence why this album was less successful than the proceeding two albums in Europe.

Although 'one more try' and 'kissing a fool' were beautiful and gave a glimpse of the greatness that was to come on the next records. I am sure he fought for 'OMT' to be a single.
