Andre Cymone - Black Man In America

http://www.okayplayer.com...erica.html

This year will see the unveiling of Andre Cymone‘s first project since 2014’s self-released The Stone. A precursor to his next full-length (slated for a 2017 release,) Black Man In America is poised to build on the political edge laid down on his comeback record, inspired by the country’s watershed moment in activism and civil rights. Today, we bring you the title track his forthcoming release; a funky and anthemic stomper that channels the angst, frustration and fear of being a person of color in the land of the free in 2016.

***You have to go OkayPlayer to hear the song*** fro

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I appreciate the message but I don't like the song. The Stone was a pretty good album but I wish he'd do more songs like Dance Electric and Lipstick Lover.

Maybe this song will get more attention here than it did on Prince: Associated Artists & People...

He has already addressed he has alot of that stuff still in the vault (many released on the expanded AC collection), but he is not interested in that anymore.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

That's a shame. I liked The Stone but nowhere near as much as his older stuff. I hope the new album is more funky.

The Stone was decent enough and a welcome return but I too am a bit sad he's turned his back on the stuff he helped pioneer. His Black Devo sound is still pretty unique sounding, even taking into consideration what the likes of ZAPP and Cameo were doing at the time. This new track is good and a great message but a little by the numbers imho. Cool guitar solo though.
