KING - the band (the current band not some 80's British one)

Remember back in early 2013 when Prince tweeted a link to that song by newbies KING, titled "The Story"? Thanks to him I've discovered this trio and followed them ever since. Their first album was released earlier this year and it's just so totally GORGEOUS!

I believe they really deserve exposure, so go and have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/user/weareKINGworldwide/videos

When I clickedon this I thought you were talking about the mid 80s British group called King, who had a hit with Love and Pride, and it sounded like a Boy George type rip off.

My bad. confused

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I like Love and Pride from the 80s as well as the current band!

It's a nice album, seems slightly overrated to me (was getting some very stong reviews in the UK) as I find it too samey to distinguish between some of the tracks but absolutely love the highlights which for me are The Right One, The Greatest and Hey (Extended mix). They also collaborated on a couple of tracks with Corinne Bailey Rae this year including Been To The Moon which is definitely worth seeking out.

I'll listen to the album again to see if there's anything I've missed though, what's your favourite tracks?

Also, has anyone seen them live and how was it? I know they supported Stevie at his Hyde Park mega gig this summer but I couldn't make it.

Missed that. I see no album for her on Discogs since 2011, do u know if the CBR/King collabs have been released on an album yet? I love CBR as well, so I wanna hear this biggrin

My favorite track would be The Right thing, it makes me horny and it's a hell of an opener. I have a long love story with The Story, too, since back when I discovered it in 2013, personal reflection on the lyrics and all smile

What I like with them is that they have a sound very much of their own, nobody that I know of does what they do exactly nod

Here's the thing.... I love KING. They've got a cool sound and lovely voices. I've seen them live a bunch of times here, always a treat, and everytime I'd chat with them after the show, everyone would nag them. "So when is the full album coming out???"

Well, this year it finally came out, and I was maybe a little bit disappointed.. It's very good, but very unvaried in sound so many of the songs end up being less than memorable. I really hope on their next release (whenever that comes), they play it a little less safe and do some different things musically. Play with some other instuments at least.
