Dont hear the prince reference at all. Anyway, its a good album, very dreamy. Its not an easy album. I get lost sometimes listening to it. Maybe the songs are a bit the same. But there are some really gems on it.

Great album and no, he doesn't want to be Prince, he's trying to be Frank Ocean. Nights and Ivy are the major standouts from the album.

I'm waitin' on that physical. cool CD

I am a little concerned that music without drums drifts into the genre of ambience... but then my appreciation of that genre depends on interesting chords and sound textures. I hope he can take me there. cloud9

Might be a little mo' ENO than Prince, if that's true. hmmm

LOVE this album! Completely agree w/ og post. Maybe some of the music is similar in tone, but the lyrics n vocals take them to another level. His first few efforts had some great moments up there, but were patchy at times, but every track on Blonde is a keeper, I think. Some dreamy, beautiful stuff love. I'm still wrapping my head around Endless (got the music, could care less about the vid lurking). Some good tunes on that 1 2, but Blonde is just the bestest touched.

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Eh.

It made money for all involved.

But let me see; no radio-ready singles. As a matter of fact I don't believe one was even promoted to radio.

No plan for physical distribution (which I was waiting for).

No follow-up promotion what! so! ever! from Frank (sound familiar?).

There was a time when Frank's absence from the promotional cycle would've went by me in passing, but now I can't be bothered with such shenanigans. Like Joan Rivers said if you don't want to be a star then why the hell are you doing it? Last I heard he made an appearance in the front row of Paris Fashion Week, like he didn't even have two albums that just dropped.

I'm so happy Solange came out. At least she seems happy to be doing what she's chosen to do.

Ocean's management decided not to submit his albums for Grammy consideration.

I went to HMV on the weekend, and they didn't have Frank Ocean OR Solange on CD.

Yet they were both #1 albums? Still sounds like nothing but a total management fail to me.
All you have to do is pay a little fee to have an album distributed digitally.

Its finally on Tidal, but I feel like why bother same with kanye. Why make an album if not planning on properly promoting it? At least Kanye is finally on tour with his and coming out with videos but that took forever. Im listening to the album now and its really good!! Deserves better.

Possibly.

As getxxx stated, his management decided not to submit his album for Grammy consideration.

I swear this whole promotion is a huge fail, and I'm so over it.

There might be some other legal reason, like this is the only way he could release it without getting in trouble for having a product the same time as his old label.
