Phil Collins' live performance of Sussudio at 1990 VMAs Since it's VMA season, I thought it would be fitting to post this:
A great, engaging but overlooked performance from the 1990 edition of the Video Music Awards. Phil Colllins always knew how to put on a good show and this is no exception.

I think I saw Debbie Gibson in the audience. Foolish Beat was one of my favorites back then. Why the hell did he do this song? and not Another Day In Paradise or I wish it would rain down. Those were huge in 1990 Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Yes, the song choice reminds me when Prince did album track "Emancipation" at the then very high profile Brit awards (well high profile in Britain). Maybe he thought that song would be pushed as a single, but I doubt it?
Anyway, shoulda done "Hang in long enough", as that was a single, and is of similar stock to "Sussudio". | |
