RIP Alan Vega, known as half of the duo Suicide

This dude provided alot for the music palette, that other people would incorporate into their own styles. Prince songs like Papa, God and Solo can be said to contain traces of this influence. At least his fearless way of expressing himself through screaming, breathing and going all in with emotions.

This was very sad news as Suicide were booked to headline the Desert Daze festival in California later this year.

I saw them live twice. The first time was when they opened for Siouxsie & The Banshees on their Seven Year Itch tour in 2003. The second time was just last year when they headlined their own sold out show. The effects of Alan's stroke were clearly visible, but the guy gave it his all even if much of what he sang sounded incomprehensible. And he closed the show with a bizarre duet with his teenage son. The crowd loved all of it.

I wish I remembered the earlier performance more when Alan was in better health. sigh
