New REAL funk/R&B music by female artists?!!

I'm starving for some new music--REAL funk/R&B by female artists. I'm talking Chaka Khan/Tina Turner/Betty Davis big gritty down-in-the-dirt voices and music. I'm having major trouble finding anything like that by female artists. And I'm competely open to artists I've never heard of before. Can someone suggest some before I starve to death?! razz lol

Actually, I was talking to PurpleThunder and she requested some funk/R&B in the style of a Chaka Khan, Tina Turner .... I believe, KYLIE's FAMILY TREE album suits very good in here and she is from the South, too, the deep deep South: "Australia"! lol

Yeah, well, I doubt if that will be trending anytime soon. Too many people are releasing bargain basement music to get a bigger profit, and I really can't blame them. Instruments and actual musicians cost money. I know there have to be some artists out there who use real musicians and who are gut-bucket soul/funk singers like Tina and Chaka but they are mostly underground artists and you have to really do your homework to find them. They certainly aren't being represented on the Billboard charts. Really, the only woman that immediately comes to mind who has seen any kind of mainstream success is Avery Sunshine.

I almost said Me'Shell, 1992-2007, but you asked for new music.

In addition to those listed, Hiatus Kaiyote, fronted by Nai Paim, makes some fierce, challenging future soul.

I anyone here a fan of Nik West? Prince was. She seems funky and is a mean bass player.

Also check out Sate.

If you will, so will I
