You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

John Legend isn't in the same league of fame or cultural importance as the other two but he's got the money to afford a star so why not?

It depends on the artist. I watched this doco on Netflix about Adam West from the Batman tv show from the 60s and it meant alot to him......and it took a while for him to get it, and he had a pretty impressive resume of film and tv credits. I am surprised that alot of celebs haven't got their stars eg Madonna, that's right where is her star???????

He hasn't been around long enough to get one IMO, while others haven't received on yet here some other examples http://moviepilot.com/posts/3671832

This is why I say its meaningless anytime John Legend gets a star before Madonna? Its quite evident it has no merit or value.

It sucks, Madonna should get her star (Doris Day has 2 of them!) and Janet should be inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of fame.....there I said it!

The star is not an award that is voted for. Any celeb can get one as long as someone pays the fee. Kermit The Frog, Snoopy, & Big Bird have stars. Donald Trump has one too. A fan club can request a star for the person they want and/or pay the fee. The celeb has to accept the star and also show up, they can turn it down.

That's what I thought. He has a great voice but it seems anyone with proper connections gets a star nowadays

I totally agree. Winning a Grammy in 2016 is just like the Warriors 73-9 season:

It doesn't mean a damn thing.

Rather, it's anyone with money.

If I had $600K or however much money it costs for a star in my bank account, I could buy one too.

Literally the only reason John Legend is getting a star is because he can afford it. The dude is talented but he ain't worthy of a star on the Walk of Fame (but to be fair, neither is a number of other celebrities).

Agreed.

Technically, he's a one hit wonder who just happens to be associated with bigger acts. He's boring as hell too. I just don't get it.

Exactly.A celebrity doesn't "win" a star.Their fan club, their record company, their management, etc must simply pay a fee and they will get a star.Any big name celebrity who doesn't have a star....it just means that they don't really want one.

I believe it was Kanye who gave John Legend his big break, just like he did for Nicki Minaj when she did that verse in Monster, and like he did for Taylor Swift lol, just kidding.

Then again, Pitbull got a star last week so... let's just say the requirements aren't that high.
