Is Madonna Just Getting Better With Age?

Saw her Rebel Heart Tour and it was just amazing. Saw her performance of "Borderline" on The Tonight Show and was just amazing. I think she is one of the few artists who get better with age.

Wonder why everyone keeps bringing up Madonna's age and no one says much about the Stones, the Who, Springsteen, Billy Joel, etc. who are much older than her... Oh, wait--they're all MALE, aren't they? confused

The Rolling Stones; The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel are not getting better with age
either, imo. But you do have a point that this question is mostly asked about chicks than with
dudes.

I think Madonna's age is a popular topic of conversation because she doesn't act her age. She acts like a girl in her 20's and dresses like a teenager. Springsteen has a certain class to him that Madonna never will.

I don't think this thread is about that though and the OP is obviously a Madonna fan who feels that she is getting better with age. There were similar topics about Prince in the past.

But just to answer the original question, I personally don't think she's better now than she was in the 80's. I m not a big Madonna fan but I do think that the likes of True Blue and Borderline are much better than her more recent output.

I think Madonna is amazing. She's accomplished so much and she really has nothing else to prove. After all these decades, she is still having successful tours.Bravo to her!

Good.

What bugs is that she seems super uncomfortable being her actual age. I remember this

[youtube:X]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hPMmzKs62[/youtube:X]

recent single and it wasn't like she was this carefree club girl: it just came off as I'm still a young woman and I'm rebelling against people who are no longer there to rebel against. It didn't come off as "I'm STILL a rock star, kicking asses and taking names."

Some of that might be how people just want their stars, especially women to be frozen in time. I saw a performance of hers on a late night show where she performed "Borderline" and my dad who is about her age dragged her saying her voice got worse and she should have sung a new song of hers. In actuality she put far more into her technique now then she did when she first sung that song. When we went to the Cyndi Lauper concert, he dragged her voice as well, saying the opening female singer had a better voice -- which was RIDICULOUS. My dad is no spring chicken, LMAO.

Has nothing to do with double standards or I wouldn't have been a lifelong fan of hers. I've lost respect for her as a person for her racist and immature behaviour trolling behaviour lately. I would feel the same if those acts were being the same

Same here. I saw the last tour and it was terrific. She really goes all out to make it an entertainment extravaganza for her audience. And, even though the Rebel Heart album was uneven (there were so many songs!) it had many good songs on it that I still listen to. Better than her last album IMO.

I saw her on the "Rebel Heart" tour as well at MSG and she was amazing but "MDNA" was pretty damn good. One of the best concerts I've ever seen! But as you said, all her tours are great in different ways.

IMO I still think Madonna could make a good comeback in films given the right role. I found this article about Madonna's best roles, and I too see the influence of Judy Holliday in A League of Their Own and Despartely Seeking Susan. https://www.tribecashortl...their-own/

I saw clips and the set design looked great but I skipped out this time.

Because she is an easy target. Its easy to pick on and bash Madonna because of her antics but she is actually doing quite well for herself for a veteran act.

As a performer she may be getting better but I don't feel her new music is better by any stretch of the imagination. An occasional song here and there are ok but she hasn't had a great album since Confessions.

Exactly and she is so much more than that.
