They appeared in my area a few months ago,at one of those shows that feature a bunch of artists who were "hot" in the late 80s/early 90s.There were only three of them, though.

Are you talking about the "I Love The 90s" tour? Bryan and Mark are the only two original members along with newest member, Adam Neil. I saw CMB when this particular tour came to my area 2 mos ago. Here are some highlights (which I didn't record) from that show.

Oh my God, is that Brian, the fat one now! Then again they are all rather middle aged and wide, then aren't we all. It shows they were not druggies or crazy at least. Being large is a size of good and sensible living. These dudes must be mid to late 40s and they look like the y did in their 20s with some extra poundage. Also a sign that they were not drinking or drugging, drugs usually prematurely age some one and make them look emaciated.

.

Moral of the story - FAT DON'T CRACK!

Digging deeper into my 1991 in music

.

If you look up google, it seems Brian Abrams has been a bad boy, convicted wie beater, accussed of multiple counts of bashing his latest wife in the face several times, yet he goes on stage singing sweet love songs. Fame does bad things to people, being the flavour of the month in 1991, was not going to ensure a good life for the rest of your life!

.

I feel sorry for him, the media have had a field day going on about how fat the guy is and there is some nasty shit by TMZ and others about his 4 domestic abuse summons. He has a problem with his fists, yes he is bad, but so are many other people. And well for being fat, is that really so rare in America and why does it seem to be a crime. From reading this page, it seems that he was a big boy before they were stars and only rally dropped the weight around 1990 - 1992, even in 1993, why is Brian hiding in the background behind the others? He obviously has some gentic issue and lets face Brian Abrams could sing, he had an incredible baritone/alto/falsetto type voice.

.

It is jealously and the tall poppy syndrome I think. Thanks to you guys, I have been listening to virtually every Color Me Badd video on Youtube (It's winter here) and realised why I thought they were so great, yes itw as slick marketing, but these guys could sing! Especially Brian and Kevin.

.

I felt their company did not promote them very well, if you look at their single covers, they look like they were done on the cheap. Sex you up was merely a plain New Jack City Sleeve and ut was a number 2 hit (Well okay, it wa sthe first single and they did not know it would be a smash.

.

For, All for love we have the image of the 4 of them with a blue background and it looks better but still the cheap looking primary color logo. Even worse for I Ador mi Amor the 3rd single and 2nd number one, its the same shot!!! except the background cover has changed. For the next single it looks like another photo from that primary colour outfit session (3 big hits, 2 #1's and #2 and they get covers designed for an act who has 1 Top 40 hit in their whole career!).

.

The graphics were ultra cheap and to me, by 1990/91 slick colour graphics were all the rage along with bold logos, even Vanilla Ice's packaging was better. The primary colours and logo styling are more 1980s than early 90s and remind me of the logo for Suave (One #20 hit in 1988 and a remake). Okay the videos are better, but still a bit cheap. I Ador mi Amor was the best video obviously filmed in Cali or East Coast as Oklahoma does not have beaches! All 4 Love the video looks like a 1989 ad for Ikea or something. Of course stereotypes come in, Kevin has to have Black girls, Mark, Hispanic ones and Brian gets the pretty white girl and Sam the nerdy looking one.

If anything I think they were cheated by Giant, SBK or whoever had them and yes I know Oklahoma City was hardly LA, but it could at least been like Minneapolis. Still apart from country and western music, how many other big pop acts have come out of Oklahoma of all places? But around November of 1991, my American musical interest moved some 1500km to the north of Oklahoma city from a warm semi arid climate of Oklahoma to the boreal climate of Minneapolis.

It has a swinging rhythm provided by Howie Tee (Whistle, Real Roxanne, Chubb Rock, Candyman, Another Bad Creation, Heavy D, Little Shawn). The sample helps put Color Me Badd into the context of a proper harmony vocal group. Plus, corny lyrics never hurt anyone! biggrin

Just watched Keith Sweat on The Breakfast Club and he said he recorded "Let's Chill" for the New Jack City soundtrack (but it went to Guy).

I still have the videotape this is on

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
