Is it because he made Prince stop cursing that you think Larry Graham is shitty? I mean, he can't be too much, if you're going to see him in concert. Free or not, you've given him enough thought to show up and spend your time on him.

Graham Central Station's back catalog is nothing to sneeze at, and if you do you might need a shot for that infection. It'd do anyone well to block out the JW nonsense, and listen to those records. prince said, on Vibe, that with GCS or Chaka Khan's records, you could put the needle down anywhere, and there would be funk.

He should do The Jam and a bunch of Sly & the Family Stone. Maybe "One in a Million"? He's more of a casino or state fair act nowadays though.

Larry Graham to me is like Ringo Starr, I don't like them going solo. Surely, I need a shot from GCS, but I don't like his voice.

I saw him about a year ago in London. The set was split pretty much 50/50 between Graham Central Station stuff (what you'd expect - The Jam, It's Alright, Hair) and Sly & The Family stuff. When I saw him he also got each member of the band to tell the audience who their biggest musical influence was then they'd play part of a song frm that artist. He also invited members of the audience up to take over on various instruments which was fun but dragged on a bit altough there probably won't be time for that at a festival show. He also encored with 1999 so I'm guessing that will be still be in the set now as a tribute.

I know he's not popular round here but for what it's worth I thought it was a decent show. A bit cheesy/loungy in places but for the most part just a really cool funk party which the crowd was loving.

Identity

Hearing live renditions from GCS' My Radio Sure Sounds Good To Me would be a blast. That album is non-stop solid funk.
