Michael Jackson's "HIStory" and "Blood On The Dancefloor" - inspired by Prince?

I made this post in the main forum but was redirected here.

So yeah after listening to Prince's "Diamonds & Pearls" and O(-+> albums, then to MJ's "HIStory" and "Blood on the Dancefloor" album... there is a similarity.

For instance, compare P's "Insatiable" from 1991 and MJ's "Stranger in Moscow" from 1995 - both have slow, erotic drum beats, a jazz hip hop sound, use of classic instruments like piano, unusual key switches - the kind of sounds you'd hear in an adult club/ restaurant/ theatre.

What do you think?
