Life goes on, i'm debating who is the King of live male artists now

Michael Jackson and Prince by far were way ahead and easily the anointed ones!! Now it's like an election or a wolf pack losing its leader!! Who is the best now of those still alive!!! Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Lionel Richie, Billy Ocean or Idol, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, George Michaels, John Cougar Mellencamp, and Usher yes Usher!! Stevie Wonder ineligible!! Madonna Queen of the women and Janet next in line but the men now is just in disarray!! I've been on this forum since 2005 under many names which most were banned but recently signed back after years away but didn't think this shock would happen!!

If you're going based on the most prolific male artists who are still alive, I would put Paul McCartney on top, followed by Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, and Mick Jagger. Just below them would be Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, and Willie Nelson.

For me, without question, Stevie Wonder. He puts out few albums, but between tours, headline gigs, TV appearances, honoring people in multiple fields, etc... He is the last of my top three since Prince and MJ are now gone. Funny how much he collaborated with those two, yet Prince and MJ couldn't do something together. But that video of them with James Brown is good enough for me.

Paul's solo work is not great at all.

Losing Stevie or McCartney wouldn't shock me at this point because they're much older than Prince was. However, learning that D'Angelo or Janet died because of drugs or as a result of a freak accident would stun me.

Paul's solo work is not great at all.

His output, beginning in 1997 onward, is nearly flawless.

That's a pretty good list, Huey. I would add Kravitz to that list as well.

With years and years of substance abuse issues that are widely known, you would be surprised
if D'Angelo died due to drugs? I would be totally shocked (and disappointed) if we discover that
Prince's death is drugs related.

There's piece by the UK Daily News/Mail or whatever where his purported drug dealer has outed
Prince out as a serious user now that he's passed. Make of it what you will.

Come on I'm saying he's young and pliable. He has a lot of time to develop as an artist.

I see Al Green, Smokey Robinson, Van Morrison, but... Are they still touring? After all the question was about male live artists. Bob Dylan still tours the world at 75 and getting good reviews, but his stage persona is so different from Prince's that you really can't compare the two. Bruce Springsteen still kicks ass on tour, just like The Rolling Stones.

In a post-Prince music world, my vote goes to Bruno Mars as well.

But lets not forget that Stevie Wonder, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Bruce Springteen, and a few other elder statepeople are still alive.

The sad irony is that there are plenty of recording artists that were born after Stevie Wonder that has died before him. sad

Lol.

Isn't obvious already that Bruno's the new "thing"? Whatever that is?

His upcoming album (Rumored release in September/October) will blow your minds.
