CD.

I've never heard of this company before though...are they legit??

Never heard of them either.

I just checked out their website. They are new and only have a handful of titles for pre-order. Everything is like $10. Let's hope this is not Gold Legion Records revamped under a different name. eek

Very surprised to see Sheila E and excited as this is one of my favourite albums EVER... But hopefully this will not be another Gold Legion-type fiasco and the cd will actually come out. However, I do find it a bit worrying they list the "8 minute version" of the Glamorous Life as a bonus track because that one does not exist, the UK promo that was released under this title actually was a 12" of the full length LP version.

They have posted on their facebook page they have been inundated with pre orders for the Latoya Jackson and Cher titles. A couple of people have posted questions on the page as to whether they are using master tapes as the sources? But,for some reason, they have not answered. Hmmmm.

When using Paypal you have 45 days to open a dispute with a seller after the purchase date. So by the time the cd's are supposed to come out, those 45 days are over if you ordered now (like I did). And we all know Gold Legion was forever postponing their releases... So let's hope this is all legit or the paypal buyer protection won't be of much use.

Im not ordering directly from them until i see if they stick to their release dates. If they are legit and they are releasing WB titles, expanded editions of "Vanity 6" and "Appollonia 6" could be coming down the pike.

the "8 Minute Version" of "Glamorous Life" is indeed the same as the LP version. Therefore, this track will be deleted from the track list.

if you where thinking of ordering Showgirls from Binge for the Prince tracks.... well...

We were nervous when Prince passed that Rhino would pull those songs from our compilation, and as of this morning, it was requested that we remove them or face a long delay.

hmm Oh. I will DEFINATELY have to take a wait and see approach if this is the case. I hope all goes well, though. Their titles are a lot more interesting than FTG as of late.

We have seen some comments in the past few days insinuating Binge! Music is a new imprint by those behind failed label Gold Legion. Rest assured this is not the case. We have worked hard over the past nine months to secure the titles we've just announced; we did not want to go public with them until the deals were in place. We expect all of our titles to ship on time, if not early, and are confident that all of our customers will be more than satisfied. Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who has bought from us in the past three weeks, expressed interest in buying from us, or suggested reissue titles. Prepare to be amazed at some other titles we will be announcing this summer!

Ummm hmmm. lol Glad I didn't fall for their baloney. The pricing didn't make sense. $10 per CD plus 15% Off? eek Limited Edition 1000 copies? How were they going to make a profit off of those prices after they pay the labels that own the masters? lol Anyway, I'm glad everyone got their money back from those dip sticks.

I'm ashamed to say that I didn't think for a second that Binge Music wasn't legitimate. To go to the effort of creating logos, a website and a social media presence - to include seemingly legitimate licensing credits on each release page - to even tweet @Cher that they were listening to their remaster of "Stars"... This is all so strange!

.
For R&B reissue labels sales of at least 1000 units is pretty standard. I've heard of some reissues selling less than 500 copies. It really depends on the artist and some labels can afford projects that are more of a risk if they have other titles that have done well.

Yes, but those $10 prices??? Never heard of any company selling R&B reissues at $10 per cd PLUS a 15% discount. I know FTG have those clearance sales after the titles have been out for a while and they are trying to clear out their stock. But, to sell pre-release reissues for $10? There is very little, if any, profit for the reissuing label. But, to sell a Cher first-time-on-CD title for only $10? That was a red flag for me. I've never heard of that particular album but, being her considerable fanbase is Pop/Rock, they could have easily doubled that price and probably sold most, if not all, of the 1000 copies rather quickly once the word got out.

Every label has to start somewhere and it seems they where based stateside so no high priced UK costs.

this comment on fbook sums it up...

I did find it unsettling how quickly folks here were to be wary, to jump to conclusions, and to complain. Artists' fans are obviously necessary to a business like this, but for any fan who desires expanded or deluxe edition of their favorite artists' releases, I'm surprised most don't understand that not every effort can be perfect. There are so many factors at play. So if one track can't get clearance, for example, why not embrace the other 90% of what did? I'd love for everything to be made for the completist, but the world doesn't work that way -- especially when it's the music world, which has so many players involved in the process. It's a wonder we ever see many of the editions that do make it to market. I hope that Binge! finds a way to regroup and try again. And if that happens, I hope we can all remember to be more supportive and less suspicious and critical (i.e don't poison the well).

Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman
