Definately Ike & Tina. They recorded some of the best Soul/R&B music ever! Tina was always severely under-rated as a Funk singer. Tina's vocals were so rough and raw back then! Incredible! I get goose-bumps when I listen to alot of her recordings with Ike. As a solo artist, the only consistantly strong album she recorded was "Private Dancer". Everything else was sort of hit or miss for me. But, whether with Ike or solo, she is still in my Top 5 favorite female R&B Singers of All Time.

"Cocaine and ass-whooping aside"....Damn!! (lol). Ike and Tina's music rocked. Ike Turner's solo music from the late 50's/early 60's was great too. His blues/funk records in the 70's were cool. People can say what they want about Ike (and they're probably right), but he was a pioneer for a lot of things in music. The big revue shows, the spinoff groups, image, guitar playing, 1st user of the drum machine..he did a lot of that stuff 15 to 20 years before everyone else did it.

Anyone have this set?

The Ike & Tina Turner Story [3CD]

I've been thinking about getting it. It's only 20 dollars. It looks like the most thorough collection of Ike and Tina available. I really hate how her modern compilations use the 90s version of Proud Mary. I'm thinking this and maybe the Workin Together album may be all I need, since it's impossible to collect everything they did.

Disc: 1

1. A Fool In Love
2. I Idolize You
3. I'm Jealous
4. It's Gonna Work Out Fine
5. Poor Fool

Whoops actually it's out of print and very expensive, there is a used-acceptable condition version available on amazon that's cheap though.
