You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm gonna focus on just the Madonna studio albums only (no Evita and no hits compilations).....

1) Ray Of Light

2) Erotica

3) Like A Prayer

4) Confessions On A Dancefloor

5) Hard Candy

6) Rebel Heart

7) Bedtime Stories

8) MDNA

9) American Life

10)Music

11)Madonna

12)True Blue

13)Like A Virgin

as you can see,I'm one of those fans who doesn't believe that her first three albums are her best work smile I find most of her post-Ray Of Light work to be much more interesting and personal. And yes,Hard Candy is Number 5 on my list.

I'm not sure where I'm Breathless would be on my list. It's a fun, adventurous album and I like it alot, but I think of it as a "special side project" and not a proper Madonna album.

hmmm I guess I'm different than most fans.I think MDNA is a superb album. No,not every song is great but the highlights are incredible...

"Beautiful Killer"---honestly,how can you call yourself a Madonna and not like this song?!

"Falling Free"----the best ballad that Madonna has done in years! Her vocals are really impressive. This is the direction that she needs to move in,imo. She said herself that she wanted this to be a single.

"Love Spent"---This song is really interesting. The first part of the song sounds "modern",but the second part is straight from the 80s.A very clever track!

"I'm Addicted"---a hardcore dance track aimed at the clubs."I need to dance",Madonna says near the end of the song....it's hard to sit still during this song!

"Best Friend"----like "Miles Away" (the Hard Candy track that I love so much),this song has a wistful feel to it.The romance is over and all that's left are the sad memories.Madonna really excels on songs like these.

"Some Girls"----this is a JAM! The spoken/rap part near the beginning reminds me of Deborah Harry for some reason.

"Masterpiece"

It was my favorite for a long time, then I realized that she made leaps and bounds in her sound and artistry and in a way HER sound is heard on True Blue. Hell, I might as well change my list:

You posting about them is the main reason I gave MDNA a chance, but I simply did not grab on to it. I have to say, it did prepare me to appreciate Rebel Heart.

Oh shit I forgot I'm breathless, its very average, Vogus is great, Hanky Panky and the rest is not, so I would say a 3 or a 4. Should I count Celebration too?, as a DVD set its great, but missing the superlative videos to a few songs like Bad Girl, so a 9/10.

Best Friend ...the music is average, however the lyrics are autobiographical and she really pushed that again on Rebel Heart.

Some Girls is alright I thought it lost its edge by the middle section though

I think MDNA was on its way to being somthing solid and great. I just think her passion for W.E. sort of took its spot and she finished the album on a rush basis. Still I love many of the numbers from that album.

Rebel Heart was her passion project and has shamefully been ignored by the industry as the comeback that it should have been for her.

She seemed too raunchy for me at the time, and I never warmed up to it outside of "Rain", "Waiting", and "Bad Girl" (I think Bad Girl is her finest video). The production irks me on some of it.

I do agree that she had too many things going on when MDNA was released. She didn't give it the proper promotion and attention it deserved.Even William Orbit was frustrated with the lack of time he had to work with her on the album.

Imo,the singles from MDNA should have been:

"Give Me All Your Lovin"----a teaser single strictly for the Super Bowl

"I'm Addicted"----promoted as the "real" first single

"Falling Free"----a refreshing change of pace

"Beautiful Killer"
