How Much Meth Were Y'all On In The 80's?

The only decade where they can take an upbeat love song. And turn it into a video about star wars/star trek/beastmaster rip offs dancing around. The coke was strong with this one biggrin

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

Meth didn't really explore across american until the 90's.. the 80's was the decade of coke.. (in both its powder and rock formats). wink

.

Nice video though.. never seen that.. never heard the song either.

Change it one more time..

This video scared the shit out of me as a kid, but I love the song so much. Always liked it better than the classic Carribbean Queen. Those harmonies at the end were superb

Anybody else thought billy ocean sounded like he was singing Tower, tower?? lol

There were actually two different videos for Loverboy. I remember seeing the other video on BET's Video Vibration where it was only footage of Billy Ocean. The Star Wars rip-off video was the one used for MTV, TBS' Night Tracks, & NBC Friday Night Videos.

hmmm

Maybe that's why most music from the 1970's & 80's were the best. Cocaine was a "better" music enhancement for some artists than the 1990's acid, MDMA, & crystal meth. nod

As for weed , that works "better" for reggae and West Coast hip-hop/rap. But that's another thread for a later date.

Killer song! This was always my favorite from Billy Ocean. Never understood the concept of the video or how it even remotely related to the lyrics. confuse

Meth was big in San Diego in the late 80s...I remember being in 7th grade, 1986-1987...my brother and most of his friends were sparked out, many others we all "heard" about, and there was a girl in my Social Studies class, no older than 13, and she was SPARKED daily. Sad...

Miami was a hellhole back in the 80's, despite how cool they made it look on Miami Vice. Then again, most of the major cities were hellholes back then. At least some cities came back in the 90's (New York, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle), yet other were left by the wayside (Detroit).

But if you really want to talk about drug-induced videos, you need to check this out.

Omg I love that video too! My favourite Duran Duran song ever. Coincidentally I had the two videos back to back on a vhs
