Going by your Sir Nose avatar, I wouldn't expect you to like them. I don't like D'Angelo's music, but he seems to be a big deal on this site if not elsewhere.

Vicente Fernández, Julio Iglesias, & Luis Miguel could be considered the Latin music versions of adult contemporary and they're really popular. The ranchera genre itself is mainly romantic ballads.
What is it you don't get Gray? The girl has a lovely voice and has so much emotion when she sings. She isn't shaking her booty all over the place and seems very modest and sincere. I'm not saying you have to love her, to each his own, but I don't get why you say the numbers don't make sense and why you seem to dislike her music so much. She is a breath of fresh air.

I'm not a huge fan of hers,but I can see why she is so popular.She's offering something that you don't find in alot of today's pop music: substance.
As someone else pointed out,she's not onstage half-naked,shaking her ass,singing dirty songs I think people simply get tired of all that.Adele is like a breath of fresh air,compared to that.

How can one make quaility BORING music.

Whether or not one considers something boring or not has nothing to do with the content or the quality.
There are a lot of songs such as classical compositions that I consder to be boring and not my preference but there quality constructed songs. Remember, we are not comparing her to the million of other singers that probably make better music and have better voices. We are comparing her to HER PEERS and the market she co-exists in which consists of Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy, Kanye West, Nikki Minaj, Miley etc and compared to her peers she objectively makes much more quality music.
It's a shame she's not streaming the album otherwise I would have listened to it by now since I have Google Play's music service. I'm behind Adele's reasoning for this but man, it's a Catch 22 for me.

She may not be your cup of tea but you have to admit she is better than those other pop stars....
Very pleased that she beat NSYNC's record for most albums sold in a week. I thought it would stay on top forever. I almost never listen to music anymore so who knows when/if I'll hear it. Haven't listened to anything old or new since the week Janet's new album debuted. It's on my hard drive though.
