Mya is marking her comeback with a new single, “Welcome to My World,” the first offering from her upcoming album, Planet 9.

The mid-tempo song finds the veteran singer informing a new lover about her lifestyle. “So you tryin' to get to know me? / Gotta take it slow, be easy / I’ma need you to talk to me, walk with me, until we find the flow,” Mya sings on the track, which is available for download on digital retailers.

Mya’s ninth studio album, Planet 9, is set to be released on her independent label of the same name.

MYA is an indie artist and Ciara is NOT, and doesnt really have the ability to go indie, MYA built her own studio, and a dance studio. I dont get the talk of "they dont give up" you are a singer a perform an artist, if you got into this to have hits 100% of the time give it up, should Prince stop because he hasnt a hit a Top 40 single in 21 years? Or because his last 3 albums added up sold what Taylor Swift sold in one day.

In Mya's case I'm really talking about talent. I question if music should be her chosen field of work.

I actually admire her willingness 2 keep it moving forward. I really do.

The last thing I remember from Mya was "Anatomy 10 'n 1" from her "Moodring" CD. I like her with Jam & Lewis! Sounds a little like Chante Moore without the whistle register. She, Chante and Amerie keep TRYIN' and eventually SUMPTHIN'S gotta CLICK! :-O

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

as an artist,Mya just doesn't have any personality. She's pretty and she's a decent vocalist.....but that's not enough to make her stand out.

Also, her career suffered from poorly chosen material. How many outstanding Mya singles can you recall? That whack song "My Love Is Like Whoa!" is an embarassment. She should have turned it down.

Amerie makes good music...All I Have, and Touch, are both surprisingly good...Mya never had hits like "1 Thing" or "Why Dont We Fall In Love"...Amerie is more like Karyn White, than Mya or Chante Moore...

lol
I thought it was sexy and seductive. I remember she sung the song on the old NBC
soap Passions. I think she has talent but is just missing something that puts her
over.

Exactly. She's a sexy lady and her voice is nice. But she has never had that "it factor" that would distinguish her from the others. To me,she's no different than Ciara and Ashanti---two other female artists who don't really stand out,imo

But there are female pop stars that are not interesting that are popular. A lot of people put to much clout on things like it factor when there are many other factors that make you big. If it was all about it factor how come Rihanna is so popular with limited talent? How come Beyonce is so popular despite having a bland personality? There are other things that need to be considered such as label backing, the right hit making producers, industry backing, marketing and promotion. IMHO I don't think Mya really wants to be mainstream and I think she is happy with what she does. Just because she doesn't have hit singles doesn't mean she should stop making music if that is what she enjoys to do.
