The Queen of Funk, Ms. Chaka Khan was nominated with Rufus years ago and now she's nominated for her Solo work. I say kill 2 birds with one honor....This is Chic's 10th nomination, what is up with that? Chaka & Janet will be inducted in the 2015 class....I never would have guessed they would be nominated at the same Class...I guess somebody is peeping The Org...LOL...Too coincidental....

Yep. It is. But since so many non rock and roll artists are inside already, it's finally Janet's turn.

In the event, Chaka Khan does get enough votes to warrent enshrinement into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, I would love to see Prince induct Chaka Khan in a similar fashion to the time Prince inducted Parliament Funkadelic in 1997 with a funny anecdote about working together and his thoughts on Chaka's career as the Queen Of Funk. I never understood why inductees had their induction given by folks who weren't born during the inductee's heyday or have nothing in common with the person being honored.

Am I the only one who is surprised that ONLY 800 Artists/Musicians represent the Hall of Fame voting Block? I expected Thousands...Very exclusive Club indeed....

Bashraka, if they don't induct Chaka & Janet then the Class of 2015 will be for naught...I'm glad someone had enough sense to let the Public cast votes....The Hall of Fame was starting to "mirror" Congress..Old Good'OL Boy Dinosaurs...

True! Which is why I find it strange that nobody here is saying anything about The JBs being mentioned.. I think it would be great if they were voted in., not only because they backed The Godfather doing some of his best music, but alse because it's good to give some people who are not so famous a chance to be in the spotlight.

Sorry and I hate to sound like a hater but I'm not too excited by this potential line up. The only one that I feel definately deserves the honor is the JB's.

Chic- I'm fine with them getting in but they should be placed in that upcoming "Funk vs. Disco" thread that we're talking about.

NWA- don't think they belong in the Rock & Roll but I wouldn't be surprised if they get in based off of the strength of this summer's movie.

As for everyone else...

I can honestly say that I don't know much from the Smith's, NWA or NIN, but I would like to see Chicago get in. They are and were great musicians. It would be cool to see Chaka get in and Steve Miller too. The rest - meh.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Well sorry but its about time for CHICAGO and CHEAP TRICK, Chicago should have been ages ago and at least on the ballot, same goes for Cheap Trick, the rest it wouldnt bother me if they get in or not, the Cars possibly, but i would say no. Nine Inch Nails, I mean i get the respect he gets its borderline, I believe next year Pearl Jam is eligible and should be in first try. Steve Miller gets very little props but for his playing alone he is hugely underrated but well respected and should be in.

so if this is her TENTH time being nominated, do we know how those previous votes have gone or is it simply all or nothing? for example with the Baseball Hall of Fame (probably not the best comparison but), the % of needd votes a nominee receives is public information

CynicKill

I do rememebr a critic stating that he felt the whole process was foolish because you can keep getting nominated until you get in. He felt there should be a cap on nominations, like 3. This was back when RUSH and Cat Stevens, two inductees he felt never deserved induction, pretty much wore the nominating committee down with their constant noms. But I see that system wouldn't bold well for CHIC, a group I see is into their tenth nomination as well.

This concept makes me sick. If a band has been nominated THAT many times, why not just induct them? eek Obviously they keep getting nominated for a reason. The RHOF is full of b.s.!!! I agree there should be some type nomination limit. What is the point of nominating a band if you are just going to snub them year after year? I think a band or act should be nominated 3-5 times and if they are nominated for a 6th time they are going to get inducted automatically.

I agree with all your perspectives in this thread but I would like to see Chic and Spinners inducted seriously... they should have been inducted. Chaka as another chance to be nominated again as a solo artist and so does Janet. It be nice if they were all inducted but RHOF doesn't like black people. NWA deserves to get in too but they have more opportunites. Let these old bands that have been snubbed for over a decade finally get in!!!!

If Janet, The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, and Chaka Khan all get inducted, this will by far be their best ceremony in YEARS (at least in my opinion)

If you will, so will I
