How long did it take them to play 23 shows vs. Prince's 21 shows?

Isn't this for a total of 23 shows over a large timespan (years)? Prince did 21 on one tour, in one go.

Yep but the record has been broken now, Prince needs to come back for some shows to make it to at least 24

I think the achievement is different - this is like who can play the most at the same venue throughout their lifetime, wheras Prince's 21 shows was one long megatour at the same venue.

That's impressive.

I've never knowingly heard a One Direction song of my life but it took a bazillion teenage hormones from schoolgirls worlwide to outdraw Prince's massive mojo.

If the tweet is accurate and One Direction has now matched the number of appearances at the O² Arena by Take That, then Take That (or someone else) surpassed Prince's previous record number of appearances at the venue. It's a bit like a headline congratulating a male sprinter today 'On breaking Jesse Owens' 100m World Record' even though it was set in 1936, and was surpassed 5 years later.

Thought they had broken up, or gone into hiatus as the 13 year old directionheads in my classes tell me, I call them no direction.

.

Hardly counts, imagine their average show lasts 45 minutes and all they do is sing and dance a bit, or knowing these talentless oestrogen rockets lypsink along to their machine pumped hits. They probably even have those telephone headsets.

.

Amaze they still had it, thought all the teeny boppers were back into Bieber and new boy band 5 seconds of summer.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Hold on. The Beatles wrote and performed their own songs. Can you say the same about The Tempts or The Tops?

No but that doesn't change the fact that The Beatles are one of the first boy bands in music.

//// One Direction is not a band they are a vocal group who will disappear soon just like loads of other boy bands. I also believe Prince did a bunch after shows so I doubt they really break his record.

Well if they broke Prince's record they must be more talented than Prince - isn't that the point of this thread?
MJ - One Direction - they are all more talented and deserving of praise in purpleshadow's mind. biggrin
