"I don't know why" is one of my favorites. I don't know if you consider it a love song or not but I love it 'cause it's kind of dark and emotional espesially coming from such an early album in 68.

Yep

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Didn't see someone caught this before I did. That song is one of the big reasons I think Talking Book is Stevie's best album.

I need to hear his version asap. To me, part of the song's charm is the quirky production mixed with the synths. I'm not expecting Quincy to do the same so I'll maintain an open mind till I hear it smile

One of his ballads that I have been listening to lately is "All Is Fair In Love" from the Innervisions album. In my opinion, it has a Rat Pack vibe to it that would have made it great to hear the song interpreted by Sammy Davis, Jr., Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin. I'm sure somewhere in time Luther Vandross had to have covered this song. Much love to Steveland Morris! smile
