The Weekend...I hate his voice.... I just can't anymore. This dude can NOT sing. He sounds like he is constantly straining and trying, bless his heart. He might be able to write a good song, but that doesn't mean he has to sing too *cough*pharrell*cough* I hear all his damn songs at work all day, and they wonder why I walk around with headphones on. Oh, and there's a SPECIAL place in hell for people who say he sounds like MJ...foh with that. I guess he's gonna sound like Pavarotti next. He shouldn't sing anymore MJ songs. Or any of his đ

He should! The Weekend's voice sounds like it's on crutches, and needs to be taken out back and put out of its misery .

So, Frank Ocean, Miguel and The Weeknd are all vying for the token black guy in the mainstream title? as artists they are not similar at all, except for one thing. I guess its why media around the world still refer to black male performers as "Rappers". Usher is a rapper according to mainstream australian media as are all Black American performers, as a result Im not suprised that Frank, Miguel and The Weeknd are all seen as the same or somehow in competition.

Yes, but that doesn't apply to this dude. Hell, he just succeeded himself at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. I haven't heard the entire album but I've heard several cuts on radio and I haven't heard much, if any at all, bad word-of-mouth about the album.
He may be here to stay with his Michael Jackson Destiny/Triumph-era vocal scales...

There is no way in life he is on MJ's vocal level I really like his "Earned It" song. However, he is not really that strong of a vocalist and he does strain a lot when he sings. I do appreciate the emotion he conveys when he sings. I am not that much of a fan though. All these generic alternative cats, Frank, Miguel, Weekend etc are all the same. There all boring to me and vocals are just average.

I like a couple of songs of him,but come one God no, he'd wish to be in Michael Jackson's vocal range.

I never heard of this guy before. In fact, when I first heard Can't Feel My Face on the radio, I asked a friend of mine, "That sounds like Michael Jackson?!!" [Edited 9/24/15 19:47pm] "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Never should you disrespect the Kang of Pop All writers/producers don't need to sing. I understand why they do it, but the world will be a better place for my ears if they didn't.

He was on Graham Norton last night and as I was somewhat paying attention and thought "oh some dude is mimicing Michael Jackson" and decided it was a good time to go the loo. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Um, yeah, I like MJ, but where is this MJ was a great vocalist stuff coming from? As a kid, he was fantastic. But as an adult, he basically squeezed a lot out of a very limited range. All his "uh", "ooooh", and "shamon" stuff are the only things that distinguished his singing. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

I wonder if there's some kind of connection betwixt his hair and his voice. Like Samson and his strength. If the Weekend gets his hair cut, will his voice go away?(hopefully)

There's nothing wrong with The Weeknd's voice. He doesn't strain when singing within

No sweetie, that voice is on crutches. I'm not exaggerating when I say I hate his voice. I can't speak for what others are saying though...

Denial is a very strong disease, I see. Just because he sings for a living does not mean he is good at it. There are PLENTY of people who "sing" for a living and their voices sound like shit. You must like Meatloaf too.

I just don't care for him in general. His voice, the hair, none of it . Strange cuz I was feeling Wicked Games n actually became interested in him from that n his stuff with Drizzy Drake , but none of his other stuff stuck. It was boring n whiny. I got all the women n drugz, but I still got problems . I detest Can't Feel My Face with a passion tho . [Edited 9/27/15 18:36pm] For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Yeah I'm tired of him. I change the channel when I hear his songs. He's no MJ. Overrated... Trolls be gone!

The Weeknd reminded me of a sad MJ when he sang live on the VMAs this summer, but not on record.
