Whitney Houston returning as hologram

Whitney Houston's estate has announced the late singer will be returning as a hologram.

The legendary How Will I Know songstress passed away at the age of 48 in 2012.

But fans will be seeing her likeness perform again as the star's sister-in-law Pat Houston, who is also the President of the Whitney Houston Estate, revealed the family is working with Hologram USA on a new three-dimensional laser image of the Grammy-winner.

'It's a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come,' Pat noted in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly. 'I look forward to the partnership.'

Greek billionaire Alki David is the CEO of Hologram USA and FilmOn, a company that will serve as international distributor for the Whitney hologram.

And he is elated to be working in partnership with the singer's estate to create a perfect 3D image of her.

'I was heartbroken when Whitney passed away in 2012. The opportunity to help share her spectacular gifts with the world again is exactly what I hoped for when I built the hologram business,' Alki noted in the press release. 'We've got technology that's causing a seismic shift in the entertainment industry, and a wonderful partnership with Pat Houston and the estate. I'm confident we'll create the ultimate celebration of Whitney's amazing artistry.'

The Whitney hologram is set to debut in 2016 at a major venue in the United States, with a worldwide tour taking place following the premiere.

I can't think of any instance I'd pay to see a hologram perform. Mozart, Beethoven? maybe?. But the whole Houston legacy tragedy is too recent and raw for this mess.

Shame on you! Do you really think that people would want to be strung out on drugs if they could help it? You should have more compassion for others.

I saw the MJ Cirque Du Soleil show in Las Vegas with a "hologram" at the end. Really just a projection at the end, with a multimedia presentation and dancers. Whitney was never about dancing though, so I can't see them making a show like that for her.

But that's an addition to the stellar Cirque Du Soleil LIVE performers...not the lifeless center piece of an entire show.

Yeah, I think that's why this Nippy idea is weak.

This weak ass idea ain't Nippy's though. It's the brain fart of that vile money grubbing Pat Houston's. However, if neither Cissy Houston and/or Bobby Brown don't put an end to this damn foolishness. They will FORVER mean absolutely nothing as far as Whitney Houston is concerned to me either; and I most certainly mean exactly that! hammer

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

The Hologram is gonna look more like Storm from the X-Men cartoon than Whitney....Pat & Whitney's brother are getting at least $5-Million(plus, in Cash) from Whitney's estate..Inheritance tax shouldnt hurt them too bad... I don't approve of some Hologram and Bobbi-Kris would have been against it...Whitney's Family will receive royalties from her Music and other projects(people bought her music like crazy the first few months of her passing). The Houstons should profit from her Legacy but they need to come up with better ideas...Maybe feature her songs in a Cirque du soleil tour...

Did the family ever decide who gets what since Whitney was divorced from Bobby and Bobbi overdosed? I don't mean to sound rude, but generating more money off of her memory is in (worse) poor taste to me.

Is a hologram concert all that different from those Elvis Presley tours that's been going on since the 1990s? The earlier ones feature his original band members and backup singers performing live with audio & video footage from a 1970s Elvis concert. The more recent ones have younger musicians instead of Elvis' actual band. Cissy Houston has participated on one of them in 2002 as part of the Sweet Inspirations. I think she did the 1st concert in 1997 too. She can be seen at 3:48 of this clip.

^^those concerts are a bad idea,too smile

When an artist dies,we need to just let them rest in peace. We can't "resurrect" them,or try to put on tribute shows with holograms and old footage. That's just tacky and tasteless.

Nothings been decided in the courts, but Legal analysts said IF Bobbi-kris does not have a will then Whitney's estate is going to be divided between Cissy, Whitney's Brothers & Pat...Bobbi-Kris did receive around $2Million or less (Minus the $100,000 her boyfriend withdrew from the bank) so Kris's remaining cash goes to Bobby...

That's what you think. People go to see them, and the Elvis tours been going on for almost 20 years, right up to this year. So they must make money. Just like people go see the thousands of Elvis impersonators and also tribute acts to other singers/bands. People go see Broadway shows with people doing pretty much a tribute to acts like Louis Armstrong or The Four Seasons (Jersey Boys). PBS sometimes show these Pink Floyd & Beatles tribute band concerts around pledge week and if you look at the audience, they're pretty large. I'm not sure that Whitney Houston would get the same turnout though. It's a different audience and she wasn't really known for her concerts like a Pink Floyd.
