Bruno Mars? Superbowl? Discuss!

Bruno Mars has been offered Super Bowl 50 halftime show spot

For the Super Bowl’s golden anniversary, the NFL has asked a big name to return to the stage.

Bruno Mars has been offered the headliner spot for the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in Santa Clara, Calif., according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

The pop star previously fronted the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show in 2014 with a guest appearance from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Before Katy Perry’s turn in last year’s big game, Mars’ performance was the most-watched halftime show ever. After the early year success of “Uptown Funk,” Mars is a bigger star now than he was when he played in New Jersey.

Reps for Mars and the NFL did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

So they can't find anyone else? They have to use the same artist that they used a few years ago? confuse

There was a discussion on here some time ago about them running out of viable candidates for the post of SBHS. Looks like it happened sooner then later. Of course Bruno Mars will most likely have an album to promote around that time.

How could they run out of viable candidates? confuse There are so many artists and bands they could choose!

They could use a veteran act like Hall and Oates and have a fun,80s-themed halftime show.

They could use Santana......or Earth Wind & Fire.....or Chicago....or even a hard rock act like Metallica.

If they insist on staying current, they could use Lady Gaga....Rihanna.....Taylor Swift....etc..

Why do a repeat of an artist who already performed? Makes no sense.

Nope not again. It's not a slight against him. I'm not s fan but he did put on a good show. I'd say try something different. Put on some independent unknown talented artist

Too many artists capable of putting on a good show to revert back to him.

Axl and Slash are friends again. How about the original lineup of Guns n Roses? Now that would be amazing.

Bruno is the man and if they do go with him, I won't be disappointed (so long as they don't lump him with the RHCP again) but yeah, it's much too soon to have him perform again.

It would be awesome for an indie or underground act to get the opportunity but Janet will perform another Halftime Show before that ever happens. Not only that, this ain't just any Super Bowl, it's the 50th edition! More than likely it's going to be a lineup of artists that would make Rolling Stone orgasm (i.e. old white rock acts). I hope I'm wrong and we at least get a mix of various types of acts both past and present.

I'll sign the Stevie petition. No better time than the 50th Super Bowl for him to set Levi's Stadium ablaze.

It's not impossible but I doubt it. Taylor may bring in ratings but she doesn't fit the bill as a star attraction for a milestone edition of an annual tradition like the Super Bowl.

This is likely exaggeration but rumor has it that T Swift is ratings poison.
