Funkadelic first ya gotta Shake The Gate remixes?

Any y'all funk stars hip to the recent spate of EDM remixes coming out on some of the tracks? Both the Soul Clap EP on In da Kar & Louie Vega's Ain't That Funkin' Kinda Hard are outstanding in my opinion.

How do they stand up to the originals? I'm not a big fan of remixes but I'll check these out...

Also not a big fan of remixes but am one of extended versions (e.g. Pumpin It Up, One Nation, Aquaboogie, Bulletproof, Generator Pop). But will look for them. Thanks! When is the new parliament album dropping?!

As far as remixes go those are some solid names, gotta check these out. I can't think of a Louie Vega remix that wasn't amazing.

Thanks for sharing, but not feeling these remixes. I am a funkateer not a club musicateer. When you speed up the beat and downplay synchopation it just ain't funky anymore. Would like to hear some remixes more like what was down with Atomic Dog, Aquaboogie, One Nation, Pumpin It Up, etc. that actually heighten the funk intensity rather than water it down. What's up with that?

Louie actually bring that DULL track to life with the remix.

I saw that list too HardcoreJollies, it's a good one! I just wish they could have covered all the spinoff stuff as well though, although that would take a very long time to put it mildly!

Oh, btw when you're talking about the remixes of those older tracks are you refering to the 12" extended versions? Oh wait, saw your previous post on them, nevermind.

I really hope the new Parliament album is still on the cards for this year, and that it's a bit more "Parliament" than You Gotta Shake The Gate was "Funkadelic". Could really do with some good horn heavy funk.

Or at least maybe also including Bootsy's albums since I look at those as core P-Funk too. But yeah would be awesome to see them all ranked and discussed like that. Maybe it's up to us! I am praying for that new Parliament too, in fact that is how I stumbled across that list - looking for updated info on new Parliament.

I enjoyed reading thru that list too. I heard a snippet of one of the new Parliament tracks. Pretty nice. G said it will have Fred Maceo and PeeWee on it. The mugg is gonna do what he does to keep a current flavor as to the remixes. He's latched on the EDM this time. I think he just naturally brings some funk to 'em. Believe me when they dropped this on me at the last gig I was head boppin' like a mofo. Greg Thomas and Danny Bedrosian have been coloring in the concert version and crowds have really dug it.

I'm still a believer The Dr knows what he's doing. He's the one that tells you here is what I'm gonna try and you say that will never work and when it does he just nods I told ya so.

By the way, as we wait on the Parliament, if you're looking for a more "funkadelicish" experience than Shake The Gate, treat your ear holes to the new record out from Andre Foxxe. Psychedelic Ghetto Pimpz. Totally out to lunch with LUNCHMEAT, more of what the Funkadelic album should have sounded like IMHO.
But hell, I just went back and fired up "Jolene" and that chyt crunched!

I couldn't disagree more. This, in my book, is the best P-Funk studio track in YEARS. Gets me goosebumps everytime. The remix is OK, but WAY behind the album version.

I hated to see they changed from studio version to remix version with the live set.

I like em both for different reasons. The album version has got that slinky slippery feel to it with those squiggly synth charts. Have you heard what Soul Clap did with the title track and In Da Kar?

MUCH THANKS for alerting me to the Foxxe release. It is stronger than I expected, with a few really strong tracks. I think better than his first solo joint many years ago, when he was still wearing the wedding gown.

My pleasure. Foxxe has always brought some grit to the table all the way back to the solo he played on the song Quickie. First record not yet fully matured but this one is thick production and the music is nice and chunky. His voice reminds me of the Dr circa the mothership days.

The Foxxe tracks I am especially digging on first couple passes are Right Here Right Now and Callers. Those are pretty bad ass and steeped in the P-Funk tradition. Bummer the sound quality is not better. Bit rate is OK but lots of distortion.

Yes I know. A couple of the tracks have poor sound on 'em. Word is it came out not fully finished. He had 2 more tracks he wanted to go on there. I think he's coming with another version of it with better sound and more music. Stay tooned.

Cool. Decent production. Never saw so many end credits on a music video. Is this the only official Funkadelic music video? Can't recall another as they stopped releasing just as music videos were ramping up. Is Atomic Dog the first P-Funk video? Was there one before that for George's first single Loopzilla? Should know this but can't remember.

Let me see if I can take you back. There is a clip of him doing Loopzilla in London, not really an official video though. This is the first I've actually seen with the Funkadelic name on it. He had one for Last Dance, then Bullet Proof, Fries, Body Jackin, Dog you Out, Tweakin, Paint The White House, Martial Law. Then came back with Anybody Get Funked Up. Then it trails off I think.
On a side note, he did make his MTV debut in Warren Zevon's Leave My Money Alone & was in Nona Hendryx Baby Go Go, hey didn't P pen that one?

oday however, the architect pays it forward, hosting his dagger-spitting disciple on a destroyer-of-all-club-anthem remix of “Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You,” off the freshly released remix EP, helmed by legendary NYC DJ and producer Louie Vega. And man oh man does this thing go. Where as the original recording was more of a syrupy slow-burning funk cut, Vega’s vision picks up the pace a bit and injects it with the spacey disco styles of “One Nation Under A Groove” K Dot, of course, comes with the heat, blazing the track with love raps with dizzying pace.
