Chvrches New Album: Every Open Eye (and some love)

https://en.wikipedia.org/...y_Open_Eye

I was late on their first album, Bones, but it is pretty dope, especially Recover, Gun and We Sink. This new single (^) is decent, as was Get Away and their Hunger Games tune. They've got something. Good old school beats and a lady with a pretty voice cool. I'm looking forward to this new release! September 25th. Tracklist and everything hmmm. Any love for this up and coming band? batting eyes

"Lies" is their song that totally won me over as well. Their combination of heavy synths with Lauren Mayberry's vocals can be heavenly when it's just right.

Love me some Chvrches! I can't wait for their new LP and the best part is, it comes out a couple of days before I'm supposed to be seeing them at Central Park lol

Just copped it cool. It's not bad. Not as immediately catchy as Bones, but it might be a grower. I like Leave a Trace a lot more than when I first heard it. Happy I got it. The deluxe version was on sale thumbs up!. And I picked up Hitnrun too razz. 2 of the tracks are sung by the dude(s), including one of the bonus tracks neutral, but they're bumpable. Anybody else pick it up? doh!

Afterglow is worth me not gettin that extra bonus track from Tarjay neutral music. Clearest Blue also jams boogie.

I love this album! Really great pop album. I actually have not heard the first album so I have nothing to compare it to. I will have to now go check out the first album since everyone is saying it seems to be so much better!

Thank you, I will definitely try! lol

So far I actually find myself playing the new album more than I played their first one. I've had it since the beginning of last week when it started streaming, I'm picking up the LP at the show. A lot of the songs really jump out at me. Namely, Never Ending Circles, Leave a Trace, Keep You On My Side (the fact that these three start the album seriously gives the album a lot of energy), Clearest Blue, Bury It and Afterglow. This album just kicks major ass. The way I look at it, it's Chvrches knowing what their fans liked about the first album and them playing off of those strengths. There are a couple of moments where the songs start to sound a bit formulaic but I don't really count that as a bad thing. The songs have a lot of energy, are insanely catchy, and the whole record is a consistant effort, as opposed to the first album, where there were a few moments that didn't click with me. That's just my two cents though. I've had this album blasting all week and I haven't even started to get tired of it. Between this record, Tame Impala's new one, the new Father John Misty, Wilco, and Soko albums, 2015 has been a really great year for me in terms of finding new music. The only 3 dissappointments I can think of for the year are HitNRun (I only enjoy 2 or 3 songs on it), Palma Violet's Danger in The Club (talk about sophomore slump) and the Flaming Lips finally jumping the shark musically with that trainwreck collab they did with Miley Cyrus and that Sgt Pepper cover album they did last year.

thumbs up! All of the tracks you mentioned are decent, especially Leave a Trace, Clearest Blue dancing jig and Afterglow. I've also been digging Down Side of Me. Reminds me of an old Aaliyah song or something confuse. "I believe, I believe" music. I actually like the new Miley lurking and Shitnruns lol cool.

Lungs is just perfect. I was busy with other songs from this joint n slept on this one, but I can't stop playing it the past few days. The beat is sick, like some Beck shit (I hate to compare everyone to him, but I'm a fan lol), I like the lyrics and melody n Lauren's vocals are too cute music. N when homeboy (Martin, I don't wanna be rude geek) comes in with an excerpt at the end, I'm like dancing jig.

Lungs is the JAM! It's also one of the two songs I'm sad they didn't play, live. Everything about it is perfection. The bridge following the chorus reminds me of the bridge in Birth in Reverse by St Vincent (er, it's the other way around but whatever), and Laurens vocals are the dreamiest thing ever. If Prince wants to sound current, great, he should listen to Chvrches or modern synthpop and inject some of that into his newer stuff. It might not be the best thing ever, but it'll be an interesting twist for him.

And about you liking the new Miley, more power to you. I cannot get into it for the life of me and god, I have tried! Maybe it's because I just can't deal with The Flaming Lips these days. They were the hottest band in my group when I got out of highschool in 2013 and Wayne's antics finally pushed me away. He went from that guy who was affectionately offbeat to this man in his mid to late 50's who hangs out with people half his age, cheated on his wife, and disrespected a bunch of Native Americans. It just shoo'd me away I guess. Miley's album just sounds like a bunch of half hearted attempts for the Flaming Lips to be the Flaming Lips, and then the songs they aren't on are actually quite good instrumentally, but Miley's personality shoves me out of the song. I used to smoke and be all for it, I'm indifferent now, but something about Miley singing about getting baked and how weed should be legal genuinely makes me roll my eyes. None of it feels genuine to me I guess. And the song with Ariel Pink was such a let down, I love the guy, as patchy and aggravating as he can be.
