New Gary Clark Jr

Good stuff. New album coming in Sept.

Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away
and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

Not working for me, trying too hard to be contemporary in the black music realm. Not horrible but dull and unmemorable. So far all his studio work is hit and miss, but his live album was SERIOUS.

If you've got funk, you've got style.

I got it too. I like it for what it is and respect his interest in stretching out from just being the second coming of Buddy Guy. However, I would much rather hear him shred and kick ass on hard-rocking blues than go off on all these tangents. It reminds me of guys like Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Sheppherd and John Mayer trying to be too mainstream and in some cases pop. I think this album is more consistent and cohensive than Blak and Blu but the high points are not as high. Could it be his greatest accomplishment ends up being his incendiary live release? Oh and by the way, there is nothing wrong with "merely" being the second coming of Buddy Guy, whose own new CD is great and blows this one out of the water IMO. At 79, Buddy is still the baddest.

If you've got funk, you've got style.

I love Gary and have so much respect for him as an artist. He has two videos already for the CD. He is so good to his fans.

I can appreciate an artist that connects with his fans and has respect for them.

My faves on the CD so far are:

Wings

Church

Star

Cant Sleep

Shake

Grinder

The Healing

reached #8 in the first week. I am surprised more P fans do not like him. He plays his own instruments and produces.

Wasn't too impressed with what I heard from Blak & Blue after all the hype. Sounds like the live album is the one to get, I didn't know about it but words like 'incendiary' make me take note

The live CD is great though nothing beats seeing him live. He is an awesome performer.
