Tyrese Is Full of It. I'm sick of him right now and his fucking album. Lets be 100% real right her, right now. Tyrese was NEVER that big of a music artist when he was making music. In the late 90's the only songs i recall getting play were sweet lady and sometimes criminal mind with heavy D. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Dude is a good singer and all that.. but his shits always been generic. And i haven't heard ANY of his songs on the radio in a decade. Not once... not even on classic 90's r&b stations. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

He's a social media fool, thats all i ever see him doing, is tweeting or facebook posts etc... I'll give him credit for staying relevant by doing irrelevant shit for social media zombies, but he has a number one album in an irrelevant musical time, plain and simple, people have number one albums that are gone tomorrow, I couldnt name one Tyrese song if you gave me a million dollars, he is nothing special nothing he does seperates himself from other RB painting by number artists like Mario or alot of that late 90's crew. He doesn't have a huge catalog of hits but he's done alright. I see the OP has forgotten about Stay and Lately which Anita Baker covered herself a few years ago. Don't laugh at my funk

I will say this..I Love Tyrese and I hope his new #1 CD goes multi-platinum (cuz he's paid his dues as an Entertainer)....I have noticed that he's doing over-kill with the "I have to pimp my projects..Pop stations won't play my Shit, it's cuz I'm Black, R&B stations play Robin, Justin T., & Sam Smith, but they sleep on me".....I get the point he's making about having to push & sell his own product via social-media or whereever, but he spent an hour on Al Sharpton's radio show mainly complaining and not celebrating his #1 Album...He bragged about his Hit movies, fine then he went right back into "why do Black stations play Sam, Robin & Justine more than my Shit?"......I'm not saying he shouldnt speak his mind/truth but he gotta be careful making the claim that HIS R&B music MIGHT be better than Robin Thickes (cuz it ain't..LOL)...Celebrity Networth says that Ty is worth around $25-Million...That's not bad at all considering he usually plays a supporting character in MEGA-movies and his 7-albums havent been mainstream blockbusters.....He's Blessed, Talented, still young and he can reach for more, but he needs to dust off this current narrative and let the world know what he's greatful for....If he wants to RETIRE from music then so be it, but he gotta understand that MOST Entertainers have Several Career ventures and Tyrese is prolly not gonna get many Leading roles in movies...

Your post is well taken. I have never bought any of his albums but I'm familiar with the popular singles and I can't think of any one of them I don't like. Even though I really don't care for the whole woe is me and they are racist thing he does have a point. It does seem like black radio and blacks alike are supporting the blue eyed soul singers more than they are the blacks that are doing it now. Tank spoke of this awhile back. And I get the fact that if the product isn't good people won't support it but has Justin Timberlake's projects really been better than Tyrese over the years. I'm not so sure especially his Timbaland produced stuff. I agree Robin Thicke has been consistent throughout the years until the last two releases. Even though I don't like most of the R&B meets hip hop drizzle we come to see a lot these days even when artists like Tyrese, Tank, Mint Condition, Kenny Lattimore, Rashaan Patterson, and even the more popular D'Angelo puts out the same smooth soul they struggle to get airplay or support from black radio but support the aforementioned artists Tyrese mention above. It doesn't add up. The great thing about MC and D'Angelo though is the support they are getting on the road. D'Angelo has his tour going well and MC is touring all over the states this summer and fall with a couple shows coming my way. Don't laugh at my funk

I've never been into this artist besides 2 songs but you have to hand it to him for taking his career in his owns hands and PROMOTING HIMSELF.
There are other artists who are far more talented who have collaborated with some big names that literally do nothing to promote themselves, and wait for OTHER artists to promote them and build their career. I mean at the bare minimum tweet and promote your project, talk with fans, have a point of view, dont just sit back and expect everyone to work for you then get upset things arent popping off like you want.
Tyrese does the exact opposite and the industry should respect him for it whether ppl agree with his point of view or not, at least he has a voice, a perspective, communicates & promotes.
Its 2015 not 1995, artists need to promote themselves in this social media driven world and stand out, having a good voice is not enough. [Edited 7/27/15 12:04pm]

I find the latest album very boring. Not "bad" per se, but just "meh." Predicatable.
