Curtis James Jackson III, the rapper better known as 50 Cent, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday.

In court papers filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Hartford, Conn., Mr. Jackson reported assets and debts each in the range of $10 million to $50 million.

The attorney listed on the bankruptcy petition couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. The filing comes days after a jury directed Mr. Jackson to pay $5 million to a woman who sued over a sex tape, the Associated Press reported.

Well, at least he has a job and a new movie coming out. I think he has some potential as an actor, so hopefully he will continue working and save his money and stay away from the low-life that he's associated with on and off over the years.

From what I understand, it is one of his companies, so he himself doesn't go broke. That's why it is nice to incorporate your business. You can ditch it and not be homeless.

A judge ordered him to produce docs and info pertaining to his personal financial affairs, including a net worth statement plus state and federal tax returns for the past five years.

Apparently, he is not as wealthy as people thought.

It's his boxing venture, SMS Promotions.

His friendship with Floyd Mayweather ended because Floyd didn't let 50 handle Nayweather Promotions when he was in jail for 90 days. I guess Mayweather knew what he was talking about.

Are you suggesting he's committing bankrupty fraud? That's a felony.

"I'm taking the precautions that any other good businessperson would take in this situation. You know when you're successful and stuff, you become a target. I don't wanna be a bullseye. I don't want anybody to pick me as the guy that they just come to with astronomical claims and go through all that."

The "astronomical claim" that apparently forced his hand was a lawsuit filed by a woman whose sex tape Jackson obtained and leaked. Over the weekend, a jury decided that he must pay the woman $5 million.

Jackson, who boasts his extravagant lifestyle on social media, told E! he's fine, adding that he's in good fiscal company.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is what you call putting a positive spin on a mortifying new situation.

Yeah. But he can just bankrupt SMS Promotions and pay the other lady.

I'd think this is just Ol 50 trying to protect what he has. I recall years ago when Marvel comics filed for bankruptcy I foget what chapter but look at them now. Flourishing.

Seems too drastic of a move for that amount. 50 has made big time money in his life. Vitamin water alone was crazy money.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
