Ariana Grande's Donut-Licking Fiasco

Police are investigating a
video that appears to show singer Ariana Grande licking donuts on display at a shop in Lake Elsinore, California.

Cops have teamed up with public health officials to investigate the incident, the Associated Press reports. Grande herself is not being investigated, but rather Wolfee Donuts, the donut shop where the incident occurred.

Health officials are looking into why the donuts were left exposed and whether the shop has a history of leaving food out. California health laws require restaurants to keep food protected from the public. Luckily for the shop, authorities found no further issues with the shop when they visited Wednesday.

"During the investigation, the manager did state they normally don't leave donuts out like was shown in the video," Dottie Ellis-Merki, a spokeswoman for the Riverside County Department of Environment, told the AP. "The employee went to the back to retrieve freshly made donuts by request of the customer and left the trays out while getting other trays."

The video, first posted Tuesday, made waves because Grande also shouts, "I hate Americans. I hate America."

She has since issued an apology for the harsh words. "I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I've always made it clear that I love my country," she said in a statement Wednesday. "What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words."

It was the first half of a two-fold apology: Grande also said she was sorry for backing out of Saturday's MLB All-Star Concert. "As for why I cannot be at the MLB show, I have had emergency oral surgery and due to recovery I cannot attend the show," the statement continued. "I hope to make it up to all those fans soon. That being said let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words."

Mayra Solis, 22, a cashier at Wolfee, told the AP that Grande didn't buy any of the donuts she appeared to lick, adding that the singer was "really rude."

Was the addition of police necessary?

Also, I followed the link and in the comment section unsurprisingly, people are more upset about Ariana's remarks than the actual crime of her licking the donuts only to not buy them. <img src=" />

Patrons can only hope she didn't engage in oral stimulation with her rumored new beau before she entered the shop. confused

The clerk should have threw a cup of water on her and kicked her out of the shop....

"How dare you come into this donut shop, licking donuts and making anti-America comments! Please leave and don't come here anymore."

That's nothing compared to Keith Moon, Led Zeppelin, or Ozzy Osbourne

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

She is LUCKY she didn't have this lapse of judgement at a major chain.

Makes me wonder if she thinks donuts are a symbol of poor American nutrition, why she was in a donut shop? lol

I'm talking about the donuts. As far as America goes, Tina Turner must not like it too much that she made her citizenship in Switzerland razz

She took it upon herself to save us commoners from our unhealthy lifestyles which is why she licked the donuts. razz

I find most of the readers´ comments on various newsites shocking and disturbing. I knew that Americans are patriotic and nationalistic but come on, she´s just a kid. What happened to freedom of speech? She wasn´t even serious, and even if she was, so what?

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I wouldn't say she's just a kid since she's going on 22. Petulant, yes. Stupid, yes but not a child. Ariana's old enough to know better but that didn't stop hwr from pulling this nasty stunt.

Her comments were pretty tame though. Based on the comments in the link you would have thought nobody else has ever said those things.

I like her voice a lot, but she doesn't always use it in a good way... sometimes wayyy too much wailing and such. And as good as a voice she has, her 2 albums have musically been simply decent.

I had a soft spot for her since I used to watch her back on the days of Victorious and saw her blow up, but this is just stupid. She should lay low for a while, because there's really no justifying why a 22 year old fucking licks donuts. No excuse. Just drop for a while and people will forget.

She has a beautiful voice but her music is generic radio filler. Her voice is better suited for R&B and though she can do pop as well, the production has to be smoother and more natural/ R&B tinged which is why her first album (Yours Truly ) is better than her second (My Everything). It's far from anything special but the music is better and has more appealing songs.

Unfortunately, YT may go down as Ariana's best work though I'd like to be wrong.

Based on what I've been hearing in addition to this, Ariana is not the clean cut girl next door that she's marketed as (personality wise).

Me personally, i don't have much of a problem with what she said(freedom of speech), but i do have major problems with her and the dumbshit she was with, contaminating the food. They say she licked the donuts and that the guy possibly spit on them and that they were possibly sold? Man that's some nasty stuff.

As far as the business being investigated by whomever? I heard the owners excuse for having the donuts out in the open and it sounds good to me. From my understanding, his business has never had any problems before(from the health department), so im willing to give the guy the benefit of doubt. But concerning Adriana? Just on GP(general principle), she(and the fool she was with) deserves to catch hell for being so inconsiderate of other people's health and that guy's business.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

First apology:

I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country.
What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words.
As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole.
The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies. We need to demand more from our food industry.
However I should have known better in how I expressed myself; and with my new responsibility to others as a public figure I will strive to be better.
As for why I cannot be at the MLB show, I have had emergency oral surgery and due to recovery I cannot attend the show. I hope to make it up to all those fans soon.
That being said let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words.
