Miguel claims to be better than Frank Ocean

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/jul/07/frank-ocean-miguel-rivalry-music

Miguel's exact quote was "“I wouldn’t say we were friends. To be completely honest – and no disrespect to anyone – I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around,” Miguel said. Later, he added: “It’s interesting, but we’ll see who’s in it for the long haul. It’s like a marathon, you know?”

You have to feel bad for him though... Miguel was the one making the comments, but Frank Ocean began trending on Twitter instead lol And looking at the tag... Miguel had very few supporters compared to thousands+ who were supporting Frank.

What does "better music" mean???

It's a creative process, how can creativity be better than someone else's creativity?

It all depends to the person listening to it.

That might explain the standing ovation from some and Miguel sitting down.

My theory if they were ever friends is that Frank seems way too aloof to be a real friend to anyone. Your problems don't concern him and your insults don't penetrate. I sense an arguement with him is strictly one-way. And when he does respond it's strictly mean girl head game bombs. It's what drives Chris Brown crazy. While Chris is one for the histrionics, Frank is pretty much "whatever dude", but not before doing something that lets you know he thinks you're below him, like when he instagrammed himself wearing that "Wanted For Domestic Violence" T-shirt.

>

Needless to say as Ryan Phillipe said about himself, "I'm just innately kind of a sad person". That's Frank. And that's why I don't think he's much of a friend. His inner world is much too dour to consider others feelings.

I think Frank Ocean and I do not think he has ability to make it in the industry. The performance he gave on the Grammies was one of the worst I have seen on live television.

I agree. That's a studio artist if I ever saw one.

He's given competent performaces before, but I certainly thinks he's more theater performer rather than arena. His personality doesn't project enough to fill out such a space.

As for the grammies? He tried something different. It didn't work.

Frank Ocean's 15 min are over. He tried to capitolize over "coming out" but it didn't really propell his career too much. He got some buzz but h failed to take advantage of it.

I love Frank but that performance was dead

I was anticipating showing it to a bunch of people who had never really heard of him, and damn was I disappointed when the performance sucked.

Such as "I can make a U2 album, but U2 can't make Housequake!" lol That quote still pisses me off. Made him look like he was so high up in his ass

maybe. The new album 'Boys Don't Cry' is coming soon. It took a while, but I don't think the wait damaged his career. If this album flops, his career will be over though

I seriously doubt his career will be over if this album flops.

But he does have an uphill battle what with the publicity he generated from his "coming out" last time not being much of an issue now.

But if the album is as good as expected and critical acclaim follows he will always have a place.

Remember critics were salivating before Channel Orange was released. The hype was palpable.

I think the hype was so thick that it helped rise his album of the moment rise to collective attention. I am glad he didn't rush out to follow it up. The timing was right to make a buzz for Channel Orange though, and I mean, maybe the energy felt different to the people sitting at the actual Grammys, but it didn't translate for me personally.

Miguel is not untalented. However a puddle should never mess with an ocean. Miguel stop bringing a knife to a gun fight you are not the artist Frank Ocean is.

Miguel should keep his pie-hole shut and worry about his own career. One of the tackiest thing amongst this generation of folks in music (its hard to refer to them as artist because most aren't), these so called feuds. Nothing scream weakness when you waste your time comparing yourself to or against another person in your field.

If Miguel has the goods, his discography and the length of his career will validate whether he has the goods. In the mean time, shut the fuck up and play.

I think this generation deals with it because they Tweet how they really feel, and then are asked to reinstate it in big interviews like Breakfast Club. I am pretty sure how this Miguel feud began and he isn't the only one!

I don't have to tell you there were feuds in the eighties but the difference was no Internet!

You don't have to venture too far to even imagine what it might have looked like!

To what ends does it serve Miguel? None. Where there feuds between artist / musicians, hell yea. Most of the shit was kept on deep background, settled on the stage ,or in an alley. You very seldom heard about it.

When Madonna was in the early part of her career, she ripped - of all people - Yanni in a Rolling Stone interview. The guy that PBS made a star when the asked for montary support from viewers. lol A couple of weeks later she apologized. Staying somehting to the effect, her taste was hers and she didn't have a right to rip what others listen to or liked. Years, later Madonna said, a music veteran pulled her aside and told her point blank, Yanni didn't look foolish but she did.

The Twitter and sites like it, are a double sword. In many instances they've contributed to music being belittled. Folks are talking all types of shit instead of making and talking about their music. Welcome to the muscian / troll.

The question is was Prince embarrassed by his performance?

Is Prince embarrassed by his clothes?

Is Prince embarrassed about his reputation?

Prince is beyond embarrassment because if he were not he never would've worn bikini briefs and trench coats.

He never would've caked on the make-up.

He would've stopped being androgynous and tried to be more like Bruno Mars decades ago!

Being embarrassed FOR him is a waste of your energy.
