Eddie Said, Roth Doesn't Wanna Be My Friend. Gun!

I never stayed on-top of the Van Halen Soap Opera.... too many egos banging around in a band, ain't never good. lol

David Lee Roth, doesn't w...y friend.

If bassist Michael Anthony was that talentless, why didn't Van Halen kick him the curb years ago? Hell, why was Anthony in the band from jump?! Geez man.... lol lol lol To Anthon'sy credit, he took the high road.

Rolling Stones

Here's what Dave had to say about Michael in 2013. Also going by this, Eddie saying Dave does not want to work on a new album doesn't seem to be true.

.

"But Ed has his own vision, I'm assuming. We haven't really been able to speak about it and it's a disappointment, just as not having a chance for a reunion of the original band. Clearly, vocals are every bit as much a component of success as a rhythm section or a guitar solo, and there's an old expression saying, "They don't go home singing the lighting show, they don't go home singing the production." You're right, they sing my words and my melodies. And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that's intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion, and I would always look forward to writing a whole variety of material. I've offered the fellows, come on out here to the land of the gods. And if you don't want to make it that far we'll make it halfway – Konishiki [his friend and former champion sumo wrestler] has said he'll lend me his house in Hawaii, Let's go woodshed. But so far there hasn't been any response, so hope and faith are not actual tactics and strategies – they're strippers from Albuquerque."

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Here's what Sammy has to say about Eddie's comments about Michael

WELL NOW... Get in some ass Sammy. lol

So, reading between the lines..

Edward wanted his child in his band, but the lead guitar job was already filled... the bass player had to go. What did Billy Joel sing...

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

My goodness... lol

So, did anyone have to show Mr. Anthony what bass chords to play for Chickenfoo stuff? hmm

If Mr. Roth refuses to act his age, Edward shouldn't take himself soooooo seriously. biggrin

As much as I love Ed, he's full of it. He was the one who agreed on the royalties back then...If he had a problem with it then he should have said something THEN...not 35 years later. HE asked Mike to join VH, not the other way around. It seems the ex VH members are more happier than the people who are in VH now. Mike's a good, classy guy and needs to stay FAR away from the VH camp. And this is coming from a old school VH fan from 1980. I used to think Dave was the problem, but in the last couple of years I'm believing it's Ed.

Eddie also said he never listens to music and hasn't bought an album since 1986. Didn't he work with LL Cool J a few years ago? How did he colaborate without listening to LL? razz Also how did he know to get Gary Cherone if he isn't aware of others music?

One of my friends who's a HUGE VH fan said the very same thing.

Eddie is a master on the guitar, but he seems like a real dick. I've been a fan of VH since the late 70's and Eddie has always been a bit delusional when it comes to his bandmates. I also believe his alcohol abuse has affected his memory. I agree with Sammy's comments regarding what Ed had to say about Michael Anthony. Sammy hits the nail on the head.
