The Sade of This Generation! While I was at Wendy's for lunch dying a slow death the satellite radio was pumping out a jam I couldn't resist. Was it-yes, it was, Jhene Aiko. It was a song I hadn't heard before but it immediately got me thinking how hasn't she blown up yet, especially after last years instant classic > It got me to wondering why the follow-up single didn't gain any traction after I saw the video on 106 and Park > Or why I never heard this awesome too-smooth-its-murder track I'm listening to right now > This girl has something here. A swag so smooth and cool it conjures up images of her closest comparison Sade. And I'm willing to bet that had Ms. Adu debuted today she'd sound a lot like this!

? Andreya Triana? Is that her old stage name? I thought all her music was released as Jhene Aiko? She looks different , too. Did you get her mixed up with someone else?
Edit: Nevermind, I completely misunderstood your post. I´ve just googled Andreya Triana. Have to check her out. [Edited 6/3/15 10:45am] " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I like her but to compare her to Sade is a bit of a stretch. Her voice is not that great and her lyrics not that deep but I still like her. I wish some of her songs would be re-released without other people singing or rapping on them. There was a fanmade remix of one of her songs where the creator had edited the Drake parts. I preferred that over the original version.
But yes, I like her albums and EPs. I think I even prefer the EP over the proper album. Her sister makes music, too. Prince used her music for his song U Know. Her voice is so lovely! She's definitely one of my favorites I've discovered recently.
I can't say much about Jhene though haven't really given her a listen.

Do you mean Sade Adu? Or Sade the band? Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Glad I got a chance to expereince mine---
and she has Funky music!!!!
Eh.. I do not agree with some of her blogs (and She eats pork/bacon), but I did not know all of that back then... The music is not dated!!!
Without Funk Music Hiphoop would not have anything to sample....Then, there would be no Mary J. Blige What's The 411, or any more Hiphop R&B...

The one major minus I must admit to is her painfully weak live vocal. Hopefully she'll correct that with dedication and practice!

I think her voice has a higher pitch than Sade Adu's, but the mood and style of her music is Sade-esque. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

bluegangsta said: Do you mean Sade Adu? Or Sade the band? He/she is saying that her real name is Helen Folasade Adu, but the band name is Sade. The world calls her by her band name, so I understand the confusion.

> Yeah I'm familiar I meant just the overall vibe. I know Sade Adu and Sade are more smooth jazz and Aiko is more what, trip-hop R&B(?) But I feel similarities in smoothness and chantuesiness.

I would compare her more to Janet Jackson. Same vocal range. Too much auto tune for my taste.

sade lol. Thats crazy. Her voice does not have the smooth low tone. she does not have the classy beauty. And her sound is not organic. as probably does not write her own songs.

im saying....no disrespect to whomever started this thread, but i dont see any reason at all to form this comparison...its so random and unwarranted...
