That was my first thought too. If I wasn't going on vacation in less than 2 weeks and had nothing to do this weekend, I would have considered driving down to Charlotte to see this event. Looks like a lot of fun. The Soul Fest in my city is more ratchet like and should be renamed "Ghetto City Fest". [Edited 5/29/15 4:51am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The Soul Food Music Festival was very good. Michele' was well Michele' El DeBarge was just okay for me. He started off slow but rallied to nail All This Love, Love Me in A Special Way and his brother's band Switch hits. Stephanie Mills killed it. She's definitely still at the top of her game at 58. She danced up a storm and didn't just perform ballads. She performed some jams such as Putting A Rush On Me, Put Your Body In It, and Uptown Funk which her son played guitar on. Freddie Jackson put on a good show too and I wasn't a big fan in the 80's. His show is very smooth like Maze. Slave was very good. They came with it. Nothing but the funk. The Stone City Band did okay and they nailed Fire And Desire. The brother singing Rick's part sounds just like him. Mrs. King for whatever reason didn't make it. I enjoyed Stephanie and Slave the most and would pay to see Stephanie again in a heartbeat. Of course I got to meet the cast of Good Times and take pictures of and with Bernadette Stanis. Still fine at 61. This familiar looking dude walked by me after Stephanie Mills set and I couldn't put my finger on it. When Freddie Jackson came on and announced that Paul Laurence was in the audience and had him stand up then it came to me. Paul wrote and produced many of Freddie's hits as well as other artists. Paul lives in Charlotte and has his own label here. Great show for a Memorial day only special price of 15 dollars.

"Heart-Attack, Stroke, Type-2 Diebetes, and Arthritis diet food..."
How about a (salad competition)?
I've seen what the food in that competitions can do...
Collard are fine, but without the Pork...
